Originally, this series was suggested to me by a user named Emeryz Emrys. I don't particularly like this series but it seems there's quite a lot of readers, so I want to give it a try. This is a test run, I want to see how it goes. Also, I want to test some features for this series. If you're new to this series, the other chapters are here https://www.novelupdates.com/series/blessing-from-the-goddess-and-transfer-to-another-world-no-thanks-i-dont-need-a-special-ability.

Since each chapter of this series is quite long, which is about 4-5 times more than other chapters here, I can't do more that 1 chapter per week. Also, because I haven't reached chapter 95, please forgive me if there are some mistakes, such as swapped gender, misspelled name, etc. I will translate next chapter after I finished reading chapter 95, so it will take a while.

If you're new to this website, there are some features I'll use here

  • There will be a tooltip for every character name and place (and skill), you can click (or tap) on it to see its original text.
  • Some notes or comments will be at the end of the page using this[1]. You can click (or tap) on it to jump to the note.
  • I will add a hint of who said it at the end of each dialogue (if I can identify)
  • "Real-time" monologue (protagonist's mind) and telepathy will be in italic
  • Alta's voice will be in code style, like Nano's voice in Average Abilities on this website
  • Some layout adjustment for "status"

Please let me know if there's something that can be improved, or if any of you disagree with my convention above.

Author's Note

Just to be clear, incontinence topics are the author's hobby.

…Is that something you should say so openly in the introduction?

According to information provided by the maid who was tracking the murderer, he was hiding out in a village east of the capital. To make matters worse, he was the only doctor in the village and was loved by the villagers. Of course, while the surrounding villages were suffering from the murderer's attacks, this village was the only one that had not been affected.

"What can I say, I feel like I've heard somewhere that the murderer is a decent doctor." (Jin)

He usually played the role of a serious and well-behaved doctor, and none of the villagers seemed to suspect that he was a murderer.

"If we chased away someone like that, wouldn't the villagers resent us...?" (Jin)

"Well, there's a good chance they'll resent us."

"Even so, we can't just leave him alone. If possible, I want him to be defeated. It's meaningless if only that village is safe."

"I guess so." (Jin)

Even if there was a village that was benefiting from a murderer, that was no reason to turn a blind eye to a murderer who was causing even greater damage. I felt bad for the villagers, but for the sake of peace and the cutting test of the holy sword, the murderer must be destroyed.

Although I do feel there is a slight problem with the "cutting test of the holy sword" aspect... ...Well, for the Izumo Kingdom, the murderer causing a stir in the world has been defeated, and for me, I get to know the power of the holy sword. Yes, this is a good thing. A good thing.

While defending myself in this way, I teleported towards the [Portal] prepared by the infiltrating maid. According to Alta, the infiltration maids were waiting outside the village, in an adjacent area.

"Jin-sama, we've been waiting for you." (Maid)

The maid (dressed like a villager), who was there when I was teleported, said that and bowed her head.

Hmm? Looking closer, isn't this maid the adventurer maid who preceded the Narnka Kingdom Kingdom?

[Yes. They are highly useful because of their infiltration and information gathering abilities.] (Alta)

Of the many maids out there, she must be really talented to have Alta say this. I'll remember her name.

"Thank you for your efforts in tracking him. Can you tell me the current state of the killer?" (Jin)

"Yes. It seems he's leaving the village soon. Probably..." (Maid)

"Is he planning to cause another incident...? No, in fact, maybe it’s a good idea? Rather than cornering a murderer in this village, it would be more convincing to capture him red-handed in another village or somewhere." (Jin)

Hunting down a murderer who was also a doctor in this village could get you into trouble. In that case, the most peaceful solution would be to catch him before he committed a crime in another village. Then, the woman who was attacked would be a noble sacrifice (in the sense of being scared).

Ok, first let's do the usual status check.

Name: Jack (Lv. 49)
Gender: Male
Age: 29
Race: Demon
Skills: [Assassination LV6] [Medic LV5] [Speech LV4] [Physical Strengthening LV6]
Title: Murderer
Equipment: [Cursed Sword - Unicorn Horn]

Just how far does he have to go before he's satisfied.... By the way, what's up with that Japanese-style name?

[Half Japanese and from a neighboring country.] (Alta)

I see. That's seriously pointless information... Let's check the weapons first.

[Cursed Sword - Unicorn Horn]
Classification: Rapier, Living Weapon, Curse
Rarity: Treasure class
Notes: Self-regeneration, increased murderous impulse, protection of the unicorn (Attack power increases every time a woman is killed (permanent). If a virgin is killed, the increased value will increase. If a non-virgin is attacked, attack power will increase (only when attacking).

It's a weapon that's difficult to comment on... Well, at least I'll say this.

Isn't that a sword?! What's going on when you come to a Japanese-style country, get a holy sword, and then your opponent's Cursed Sword is a rapier...? You should have just got a sword instead...

[I apologize.] (Alta)

No, I don't intend to complain to Alta... But, how can I put it, I just don't feel satisfied... Stop it, there's no point in worrying about it, so let's move on to the next thing, the next thing.

Umm, a living weapon... Ah, that's the one the Zelvain I met in the labyrinth had. A Cursed Sword that also has the properties of a living thing.

[The material used to make the sword is a unicorn's horn. It is not a mineral but part of a living organism, so it is believed that the influence of the [Sacred Magic Blacksmith] technique transformed it into a living weapon.] (Alta)

I see... [Sacred Magic Blacksmith] is a mysterious skill.

By the way, in this world, unicorns were treated as magical beasts that should be defeated. Well, if you considered the ecology of unicorns, it made more sense to treat them as magical beasts. The effect of the sword seemed to be the same, right?

Was it suitable for the Holy Sword's first battle? To be honest, it's a bit tricky. Of course, maybe he's an opponent that needed to be defeated...

"That's... another... Cursed Sword... an unpleasant effect..." (Mimi)

Mimi, who was also checking the status of the Cursed Sword, muttered.

"That's not such a crazy effect. Is it actually normal for a Cursed Sword?" (Maria)

"Ah... is that it...?" (Mimi)

"May I show you some of the Cursed Swords that Jin-sama has?" (Maria)

Maria suggested that, seeing Mimi in surprise.

"That would be the quickest way. Understood, I'll allow it." (Jin)

"Yes, thank you." (Maria)

And so, when Mimi saw the Cursed Sword that Maria had taken out, her reaction was "Wow..."

I saw Jack left the village and rode his horse north towards a larger town. Naturally, he was holding the [Cursed Sword - Unicorn Horn]. No matter how you looked at it, it looked like he was going to kill someone.

"Well, it's easier to track them from the sky." (Jin)

"Hmmp, you can rely on me more, you know!" (Blue)

So, we hopped on Blue and the others and chased Jack from the sky. Recently, I've been using Blue and the others for flying, so I hadn't had much use for [Nosferatu]. I'd only been using it to fly short distances now.

"Since I'm here, leave the flying to me, okay!" (Blue)

"Yes, yes." (Jin)

Blue spoke as if she had read my mind, and I nodded in agreement.

"Do it properly!"

"I want you to insult me as well!" (Tohru)

For now, let's leave the masochist princess alone. Dealing with her will just tire you out.

"Blue-chan, I'm jealous that you can ride with Master, you know." (Leaf)

"Yes, I'd like to take your place if possible." (Mikazuki)

"Absolutely not! It's my job to give my Master a ride! It's my job alone!" (Blue)

Leaf and Mikazuki said this enviously, but Blue was not impressed.

"I knew that. I wonder how much Blue-chan loves Master..."

"Yeah, so just occasionally is fine. Can you do that please?"

"I, if that's enough... But, um." (Blue)

Blue was shaking her head in a state of deep concern. I wished she wouldn't worry too much during the flight...

(Can Dora too?) (Dora)

"S-stop! If Dora joins the battle, my position will be in danger!" (Blue)

Even Blue didn't seem to have the confidence to take on Dora.

No, that's why making a Dora into a mount would just look like abuse...

"Jin-sama, it looks like the killer will be arriving in town soon." (Maria)

"So, he just enters through the normal entrance, huh..." (Jin)

As I was listening to the heartwarming exchange between the dragonewts, I received a report from Maria. I checked the map and saw that Jack was just about to go through the procedures at the town entrance. Even though he's a murderer, he went through the proper procedures to enter town...

We landed near the town and, like Jack, paid the toll and entered the town. Just to clarify, before entering the town, I changed into kimonos so as not to draw attention and had Blue and the others returned to the mansion.

"Sorry. It seems I'll only be using you when I need to get around..." (Jin)

"Don't worry about it. That's what a mount is like." (Blue)

Blue waved her hand and spoke in a straightforward tone. Mikazuki and Leaf nodded in approval.

"That's right. I'm happy to be of use to you, Master." (Blue)

"We all feel the same way, so please continue to call us when you need to move." (Leaf)

"Oh, then I'll do so without hesitation, you know." (Jin)

This was part of the conversation before Blue and the others left, but it seemed that from the beast's perspective, it was perfectly reasonable for the beast to be "used for a small errand." It seemed that "I want to be of help to you" was more important than "I want to accompany you on your journey."

It's a great pleasure to be a master. A maid? ...I'm not in control of that, right? If I speak carelessly, I don't know how far I'll go...

[I'll do anything. I'll do it as far as I can.] (Alta)

…………. (Jin's mind)

So, we ended up in the same town as the murderer (Jack), and one unexpected thing happened. That's because Jack was taking a rest at the inn as usual.

It seems he has no intention of committing a random murder during the day, as Tooru says that all the murders up until now have only been committed late at night or on rainy days. If you think about it, it makes sense in a way, but I'd like to say this: Just tell me sooner.

"I'm so sorry!"

However, heaven was on my side (it usually is). Two hours after Jack and I entered the town, just as we finished our lunch of tempura soba, it started raining. It was a blessing (so we didn't have to wait long).

A little while later, just as I had expected, Jack went out into town. Of course, in his hand he held the [Cursed Sword - Unicorn Horn]. Incidentally, he was wearing a grey robe, hiding his face.

It seemed that Jack was heading to a red-light district. Since this was a Japanese-style country, it's more like Yoshiwara... Even though the direction was slightly different, I didn't have to be like Jack in that respect, right?

Although there were few people around due to the rainy weather, being an entertainment district didn't mean the area was completely deserted. Meanwhile, a woman in her 20s, holding a Japanese umbrella, tried to take a shortcut through a deserted back alley. When our Jack-san noticed that woman, he also went into the back alley. At that moment, with leg strength beyond what an ordinary person could imagine, he approached the woman in one go, holding the [Cursed Sword - Unicorn Horn] at his hip.

"Ah, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!" (Woman)

The woman heard footsteps, turned around, and when she saw the person, she let out a loud scream. Hearing that, Jack's mouth twisted in amusement. Just as the tip of the sword was within a few centimeters of the woman's abdomen...

"Yes. That's enough." (Jin)

*Bang!*

The [Holy Sword - Messiah] was swung down vertically, snapping the blade of the [Cursed Sword - Unicorn Horn] in half. It was nothing, I just got closer using the short-distance teleportation magic [Warp].

"Guuuuuuuuuuhh!!!" (Jack)

Even though he wasn't attacked at all, Jack let out a louder scream.

[He has been invaded by the Cursed Sword, and there seems to be feedback from the Cursed Sword.] (Alta)

Ah, now that I think about it, one of the effects was "increased homicidal impulses." If it's a Cursed Sword that affects the mind, it's not surprising that something like that would happen.

"Wh-what is this...? What's going on...?" (Woman)

The woman who was about to be killed seemed to have lost her balance and collapsed to the ground. That was good. It's raining so she wouldn't be noticeable.

"That guy is a serial killer making the rounds, and you're his potential victim. Okay?" (Jin)

"Huh?! Ah, that's the rumored one..." (Woman)

The woman collapsed and tried to retreat, but she couldn't muster any strength and just thrashed about.

Hmm, even if it was to capture the definitive scene of an attempted murder, was it a bit too late to step in to help?

"I'm going to arrest him, so, if possible, I'd like you to call the guards or something." (Jin)

"N-No way... I can't stand up." (Woman)

"Well, I suppose so. Oh well, could you just stay there and be quiet?" (Jin)

"G-got it." (Woman)

With that, the woman crawled over to the edge of the alley. It seemed like the murderer calmed down a bit (?) while I was talking to the woman.

"Y-you... how dare you hurt me[2]..." (Jack)

Jack said this while glaring at me with bloodshot eyes...

What? Say it again?

His voice was muffled and the intonation was strange, making it extremely difficult to hear.

["How dare you hurt me?" he said.] (Alta)

Ah, I see. Thank you for the translation, Alta. I'll keep it up.

[Leave it to me.] (Alta)

Come to think of it, he said "me", but why is he looking at the Cursed Sword? Could it be that the Cursed Sword's erosion has progressed and his consciousness has been taken over by it?

[It's slightly different. The consciousness of the Cursed Sword and Jack are mixed together.] (Alta)

Will he go back to normal? Also, is Jack a victim of the Cursed Sword?

[The answer to both questions is "no." Apparently, they have a very strong affinity, and are fused at a very deep level. And without Jack's consent, this affinity would not be possible.] (Alta)

So this is the outcome Jack himself wanted? Then there's no need to be shy.

"Yurusanai!(I won't forgive you!) Zettainiyurusanai!(I will never forgive you!) Kanarazukoroshitearu!(I will definitely kill you!)" (Jack)

Real-time translation. That would be a great help.

Hmm? Looking closely, I can see that a black miasma-like substance is gushing out from the cut surface of the broken Cursed Sword. At the same time, it seems like the murderer (Jack) has aged a little...

[It seems that the ability of self-regeneration has been activated. The Cursed Sword regenerates by absorbing the life force of the user.] (Alta)

Hmm, the blade that I thought I had broken earlier has definitely stretched a bit.

"Korosu (kill) Korosu (kill) Korosu (kill) Korosu (kill) Korosu (kill) Korosu (kill) Korosu (kill) Korosu (kill) Korosu (kill) Korosu (kill) Korosu (kill) Korosu (kill) Korosu (kill) Korosu (kill) Korosu (kill) Korosu (kill) Korosu (kill) Korosu (kill) Korosu (kill) Korosu (kill) gugyaagyaagyaagyaagya!!!" (Jack)

Jack was glaring at me with murderous eyes and muttering something, but suddenly he burst out laughing.

Ah, he's broken. ...He's been broken since the beginning.

At the same time that Jack began to truly break down, the black, mist-like miasma that had been overflowing from the Cursed Sword exploded, covering Jack's entire body.

"Guuuuuh, gyuuuuh, gyuuuh, gyuuuh" (Jack)

"What?! What is this?!" (Woman)

The woman watching from behind cried. I could tell from the map that Jack's fusion with the Cursed Sword had progressed even further, and he was in the process of transforming into a monster, discarding his human form.

This is bad. This is bad. Calm down. It's no good... It's no good... Ahh...

"Demon-destroying flash!!!" (Jin)

*Bang!*

"Gyaa... gya...!?" (Jack)

In the next moment, I unsheathed my holy sword and cut through the miasma that was clinging to Jack while I was shouting the name of the technique that came to mind. This was probably due to the effect of the holy sword's [Miasma Removal]. All of the miasma that came into contact with the holy sword disappeared instantly, leaving only Jack lying on the ground, powerless.

I did it...

Unable to resist, I ended up committing the taboo of "Attacking an enemy while they are transforming."

Actually, as per promise, I was going to wait until the transformation was finished.

But Jack was too vulnerable. Previously, when the Divine Dragon, Elle, had used, she had bought herself some time and distanced herself from me, and only used once she had secured a certain degree of safety. In that case, I could have made the excuse that "I allowed the enemy to transform because I didn't have the time to attack."

(So it was thanks to Master's principles that I was able to [Transform]...) (Elle)

Elle spoke in a tired voice (telepathy).

Yeah. I think if I tried a little harder, I could have hit 10 or 100 of those Fireballs.

(If you do that, not a trace of me will remain -noja...) (Elle)

No, are you sure there will be no trace left? You have complete resistance too... By the way, Alta, is it okay for Elle to talk on her own?

(Why did you say something unnecessary there -noja?! You'll end up doing that again -noja!) (Elle)

[It doesn't matter. The subject of Elle came up, and given the timing, I thought it was highly unlikely that she would offend Master.] (Alta)

I see, so that's Alta's criteria for judgment. By the way, what did you mean when you said that when you were panicking?

(I can't say anything -noja...) (Elle)

[Simply put, it is training. I am disciplining ignorant and foolish wild dragons who have no common sense or knowledge of the pseudo-personality ways.] (Alta)

(Well, that's what you've said... Ugh, that's true -noja... I'm just an ignorant and foolish wild dragon -noja...) (Elle)

[That's fine.] (Alta)

Alta was completely merciless. I couldn't see Elle, but in my mind, she's on all fours doing ARUTA's chair. It seemed that a complete hierarchical relationship had been established.

Now, let's get back to our topic. Even Elle bought herself a time during that time,

(That's cruel) (Elle)

but Jack didn't buy any time this time. He just covered his whole body in miasma (which seems dangerous to touch). Did he think that that was enough to get him through? Jack may not know this, but what do I have in my hand? Yes, a holy sword that dispels miasma. Using miasma as a shield is nothing but a bad move.

[To add a little more, just touching that miasma would cause mental abnormalities in a normal human. Of course, it is ineffective against Master. Normally, it would have acted as a decent shield.] (Alta)

In short, he had either been overconfident in the protection provided by the miasma, or he was so broken that he no longer had the energy to even think about such things.

I was not a seeker or a fighter, so I didn't take the trouble of "waiting for my opponent to get stronger before defeating him." Waiting for him to transform was a "promise." And it's only when I had an excuse. There was an enemy standing in front of me that wasn't moving, that had some sort of weak spot exposed, and he had a weapon in his hand that was perfectly suited to it, so there was no way I could come up with an excuse not to attack. Therefore, I couldn't suppress my desire to attack.

"...Well, it's better than having him transform and causing unnecessary damage." (Jin)

The back alleys weren't very wide, and there's a possibility that unnecessary damage would have been caused if he had transformed. It would be foolish to keep the promise and increase the damage (although I hear such stories quite often).

By the way, when I looked at Jack who was lying down in the middle of transforming, I saw swords growing out of all parts of his body, and he looked like a hedgehog. If this thing went wild, it could cause more damage... It also seemed that the Cursed Sword itself had been cut off by the previous slash. The Cursed Sword also seemed to have died completely this time (a dead living weapon again) and there was no sign of it regenerating. It was a rather anticlimactic ending, but he was just a small-time bastard who only had his sights set on women. Well, that's just how it was.

"Jin-sama, thank you for your hard work." (Maria)

"Jin-kun, thank you for your hard work..." (Sakura)

After confirming that the battle was over, Maria's and Sakura's groups approached, carrying umbrellas.

What was Maria and her group doing during the fight against Jack? In a word, they were a barricade. To prevent unnecessary ordinary people from entering the back alleys, two groups—Maria and Mimi, and Sakura, Dora, and Tooru—were blocking the alley. Maria physically blocked the way with her, while Tooru blocked the alley with her aristocratic, young master attitude, making it psychologically impossible to pass through. ...Those guys had some surprisingly interesting ideas.

(Master wins!) (Dora)

Dora ran up to me and hugged me, so I picked her up and put her on my shoulders.

"What a wonderful slash.... The holy sword must be.... your wish.... I'm jealous...." (Mimi)

Mimi said with an ecstatic look on her face.

Still, what is so enviable about being treated like one?

[It is being used by Master. It is being useful to Master. It is being in contact with Master's body.] (Alta)

…I had almost forgotten, but this kid has already become a hardcore believer. The map display is also bright yellow...

"In the end, I only used you twice." (Jin)

"That's all... enough. Just those two times... I feel like my life has been worth it..." (Mimi)

"I, I see..." (Jin)

Maybe that's an exaggeration.

I don't know what the hardcore the believers are thinking. Ah, including Maria next to me, huh?

"Uh, who are you guys...?" (Woman)

Though she was the center of attention, the woman who had been left out of the loop until now suddenly regained her senses and asked us a question.

*Tch*

As I turned to face the woman, I heard Mimi clicked her tongue. Then I turned my face back to Mimi...

"Noth... It's nothing……" (Mimi)

Mimi smiled at me as if nothing had happened.

[Apparently it was, "Don't interrupt me when I'm talking to Jin-sama."] (Alta)

…It seems that even amongst the serious believers, Mimi is an especially serious one.

I patted Mimi on her head and then turned to face the woman. Mimi's expression just before she turned was so sappy that it was pretty crazy, yes.

"We are just passing adventurers. We had heard that a murderer causing trouble in the streets is active on rainy days, so we were on our patrol when we came across onee-san about to be murdered." (Jin)

Yes, that's my excuse. It's not like it didn't make sense. Of course, if someone were to check my alibi, my lies would be exposed easily.

"I, I see... Ah, I haven't thanked you yet for helping me. My name is Miyuki and I work in the nearby entertainment district. Thank you so much for helping me. You saved my life." (Woman, next will be Miyuki)

Saying this, the woman, or rather Miyuki, bowed her head.

"By the way, did you kill the murderer? If he's still alive, I think it would be best to tie him up..." (Miyuki)

With a slightly frightened look in her eyes, she pointed at the fallen Jack. It seemed the fear of being nearly killed wasn't so easy to shake off.

"He's still alive, but I don't think he'll be waking up anytime soon. Tooru, can you call the guards? Maria, tie up the murderer." (Jin)

"Got it." (Tohru)

"Yes. I understand." (Maria)

When I gave my orders, the two of them did as they were told. Also, when tying up Jack, Maria cut off the sword that grew out of Jack's body. It certainly would have been extremely difficult to tie him up if he had a sword growing out of it.

"That's very efficient. By the way, my savior, I'd like to know your name. Is that okay?" (Miyuki)

Now, I wonder if it's okay to give my real name here...

For now, it seemed that Hannah was still chasing the carriage, and if she appeared here and there too much, there's a chance that she'd sense the teleportation magic (this was a rather belated thought). Once I turned the murderer over to the guards I'd be leaving town, so I didn't think it'd be a problem if I just identify myself once.

"Ah, my name is Jin. The person next to me is..." (Jin)

"Ah, the other kids are fine. All I wanted to know was Jin's name."

Miyuki stated simply. It would be nice if I didn't have to give my name, but...

"That's right. I want to thank you, Jin, so could you come to my shop tomorrow? Here's my business card. If you come, I'll give you the best service possible, since I'm still the most popular person in the shop." (Miyuki)

Miyuki said as she shook her head and handed me her business card. It was clearly a business card for an adult entertainment shop. It's not the kind of thing you'd give in a situation where there were women around...

"...... A pest that deceives Jin-sama." (Maria)

"*Gasping*!" (Miyuki)

As Maria muttered this, an overwhelming murderous intent erupted from her. All of Maria's murderous intent was directed at Miyuki, and when Miyuki received a direct hit, the only sound that could be heard was the sound of air escaping from her mouth.

"Jin-sama is a great person. He should not be seduced by someone like you. Of course, Jin-sama is also a young man, so it's only natural that he has some desires." (Maria)

"*Gasping*..." (Miyuki)

Miyuki collapsed and clutched her throat. Apparently, she was so scared that she had difficulty breathing.

"But to receive Jin-sama's love, one must have the status to be worthy of it. Do you have that? It would be one thing if you were willing to throw everything away and devote yourself to Jin-sama, but you, who only serve your customers, are not worthy of his love." (Maria)

"*Gasping*..." (Miyuki)

"Maria, stop stop!" (Jin)

There was no time to just sit there and watch. If I didn't stop Maria, Miyuki would suffocate to death. I went to great lengths to save her (ignoring the fact that I used her as a decoy), so what's the point of Maria killing her?

"I'm sorry. I got carried away." (Maria)

"Cough! Whew, whew, whew..." (Miyuki)

In an instant, Maria's murderous intent disappeared and Miyuki regained her breath. To put it bluntly, Miyuki was in a terrible state, so I activated the [Clean] spell. There were many different types of people who had difficulty breathing.

"Did you understand what I just said?" (Maria)

"Y-Yes..." (Miyuki)

Maria approached Miyuki, who had somehow managed to regain her senses, and asked a question. Miyuki let out a small shriek, "Hii!", whenever Maria came close.

It's completely traumatizing, right?...

"If you want to thank him, give something else. Got it?" (Maria)

"Y-Yes! Of course!" (Miyuki)

Is this what they mean when they say a frog stared at by a snake?

For the next few minutes until the guards arrived, Miyuki remained in the corner of the alley, shivering and cowering.

Afterwards, the guards that Tooru had brought arrested the murderer (Jack), and we headed to the guardhouse to explain the situation. Seeing Miyuki completely frightened, the guards mistook her fear for that of a murderer.

...Sorry, but the object of Miyuki's fear is this kid (Maria).

That aside, it seemed that Jack had committed murders in the town before, and testimony from those involved in those cases quickly established that Jack was the murderer. Thanks to that, our detention time was extremely short and we were able to receive our reward without any problems. Furthermore, since the remains of the Cursed Sword were to be treated as investigation material, they were left in the custody of the guards.

Since Jack was a doctor in a nearby village, it seemed that quite a few people knew about him, so it looked like it was going to cause quite a commotion. I didn't want to incur the wrath of the villagers, so I made the guards promise not to make my name public. Well, I didn't know how effective it is, but I said just in case.

After I finished explaining my reasons to the guards and left the station, I declined Miyuki's offer to thank me and decided to return to the capital.

No, even if she thanked me with such a terrified and tearful face, I wouldn't be able to accept it...

Author's Note

Miyuki (a one-off character) stepped over Maria's landmine.

Maria was more of a maiden enthusiast. But it's strange that her target was Jin...
