"Whaaaaaaaat?!" (Mitsuha)
A sudden bombshell statement from Sabine-chan!
My shout resounded in the Viscount Yamano's residence.
"S-Sabine-chan, th-that's…." (Mitsuha)
And then Sabine-chan kept approaching me.
Colette-chan remained frozen and didn't move.
“Yeah, I was thinking it might be fun if the two of us went on a short-term study abroad trip for a few months…” (Sabine)
“Let’s go!” (Colette)
Sabine-chan's words were followed by Colette-chan's words, which came back to her senses.
"…I have save up quite a bit of loan points, right? Transcribing the tape, accompanying the technician to the hospital, interpreting, and so on…." (Sabine)
The other day's incident with Ethnol territory and Colette-chan's hospitalization didn't really count as loans.
Sabine-chan was quite strict about that….
And I guessed this also had the meaning of making up for the fact that I had forgotten Colette-chan in the matter of the Ethnol territory.
So, I decided to use Sabine-chan's loan and brought Colette-chan along.
Certainly, studying in Japan would be a great investment for both of them in the future.
And if I didn't settle the debt I had accumulated to Sabine-chan soon, I was afraid of what would happen next.
I guess it couldn't be helped…
Thus, it was decided that they both would study in Japan.
Alright, it'd been decided that Sabine-chan and Colette-chan would study abroad.
No, actually, I had been thinking about it for a while.
Although their Japanese pronunciation and phrasing were still a bit questionable, their Japanese had improved to the point where it didn't interfere with everyday communication for elementary school students.
However, since they mainly studied Blu-ray discs, books, and manga, they were pretty good at listening and reading, but they were not very good at speaking and writing.
That's why maybe it was necessary for them to get used to Japanese.
…study abroad language study.
Also, studying common sense things that weren't written in the book… things that weren't even worth writing about.
When they came to Japan, they had knowledge that was unusual of a child, something that they acquired from books and TV, but didn't know things that even a kindergartener would know.
If this was the case, in the event of an emergency… such as when this country perished and we had to move to Earth… we would be in trouble.
And, most importantly, I wanted them both to have fun.
Since the two of them were always busy with their princess education and studying for the vassal candidates, I wanted them to enjoy a little school life in Japan. I wanted to give them a few months off under the guise of studying abroad.
The problem was whether or not Sabine-chan could get permission from the king…
"Approved!" (King)
…it seemed like she got it.
Well, I had told the king that the study abroad destination was was a friendly country of my home country, so it'd be absolutely safe.
I also told Sabine-chan and Colette-chan that "Japan is one of the several countries where I am based."
Otherwise, if Japan was my home country, there would be various inconsistencies and contradictions with the explanations I had given so far…
It was possible that Sabine-chan had already found out, but well, it's just a pretense anyway...
If they studied in Japan, they might find out that this country and Japan were not on the same planet, but for the three of us, it was not a big problem.
If I could move to another planet, I could explain that my real homeland was on another planet.
Also, Sabine-chan just ignores things that really bothersome for her without questioning them.
I love kids who could read the atmosphere!
Well, that's why the study abroad plan for both of them started.
As for nationality, I asked one of the participating countries of Isecon, the otherworld council, that gave me the title of viscount, to register them as my younger sisters. I also created an additional one for myself, separate from the one I had before.
…so, that was why both of them were also nobles. I was the only one with a title, though.
However, the family name "Yamano" sounded a bit Japanese, so I decided to use the family name "Zegreius" for Sabine-chan.
…of course, I had the king's permission.
Well, it didn't affect the other world.
I wouldn't mind a completely fictitious family name, but I didn't want Sabine-chan to lie pointlessly or use a false name.
Colette-chan didn't have a surname to begin with, so no matter what family name she used, it would all be a lie, so any family name wouldn't matter.
Besides, it would be easier in many ways if they were decided to be sisters.
If they were not sisters, they would have to go through twice as many paperwork, like getting your parents' signatures and a guardian's power of attorney.
…And I pushed really hard to get into a Japanese school… a private girls’ school. It's easier to get into a private school, and I couldn't stand the idea of having any bad people get involved with Sabine-chan or Colette-chan, so an all-girls school was the only option! ...Being the daughter of a foreign nobleman would probably be effective in getting into that school.
It would be impossible to refuse an official request from the royal palace of the country that granted me citizenship.
After all, it we came with a genuine old-fashioned diplomatic document sealed with sealing wax and stamped with a seal, as well as a handwritten letter of request from the King.
Maybe they would probably be happy to accept them, as it would add prestige to the school.
Yes, connections are worth it if you use them!
So I chose a certain girls' school located in an international port town, which is an integrated school offering everything from kindergarten to university.
It was a private girls' school, and it seemed like only 3 or 4 people in the class walked to school.
Everyone else seemed to be dropping off and picking up their children in their own cars or commuting to school by train accompanied by their parents.
Those who walk to school did not necessarily walk because they were poor.
In order to send their children to this school safely, they purposely moved to a high-class residential area right next to the school…
So, what was it?
…it was a school for young ladies, yes.
"Eh, an Esoteric Buddhism school?" (Colette)
"Missionary school! Where Buddhist school come from?!" (Mitsuha)
As soon as I started explaining about the school, Colette-chan started acting stupid.
But how did you know about Esoteric Buddhism? Had you seen that kind of manga or anime?
"Mission-based? Is it a special operative training school or something?" (Sabine)
Sabine-chan, you too…
"They'll teach about car transmissions…." (Collete)
"That's the transmission system! In this day and age, an automatic is enough!" (Mitsuha)
Third Person View
“These are two international students, Sabine von Zegreius and Colette von Zegreius. Everyone, please get along well!” (Teacher)
"Yee~s!!" (Class)
The children responded loudly to the teacher (sister)'s introduction.
Even though sister, it didn't necessarily mean older sister.
Since it is a missionary school for girls, most of the teachers were nuns and sisters.
Therefore, in terms of age, there were many teacher sisters who were around the age range of aunts to grandmothers.
…of course, there were also young teachers (sisters) in their twenties.
A percentage of them were pure-bred young ladies who had attended this school from kindergarten to university.
This was Stella Maris Girls' Academy, a missionary-oriented private school from kindergarten to university, located in a certain port town.
Of course, as the name suggests, it was a girls' school. It was a garden for girls only.
And this was the 6th grade elementary school classroom.
They were introduced by a teacher who welcomed two short-term exchange students from abroad.
This was Japan, and this was a missionary school.
Therefore, there was no discrimination against children based on their social status or their parents' occupations. Neither teachers nor the children themselves discriminated against each other.
Therefore, they did not mention their parents' occupations.
…well, the fact that they attended this academy itself was a proof that they were "More than a certain amount of wealth," so it didn't really matter….
However, since it was an introduction, they had no choice but to say their name.
Unlike Japan, there were many different names in foreign countries. There might be a baptismal name between the first name and last name…
…and von.
It was part of the name, so if you omitted it, it would be a terrible insult. That was also the pride of the family, the character of von.
…it couldn’t help but to say it.
And that would clearly state that these two were nobles.
“…………” (Everyone)
And although they were in the sixth grade of elementary school, they were all children of good families. They also liked romance novels set in old Europe, so if someone who understood what it meant to have a foreigner's name with von or de, there would be several people.
…of course, in the two's home countries, the word for nobility was not von, but a different word.
However, since that word had no meaning on Earth, Mitsuha changed it to von with the permission of the person themself.
Actually, since Sabine was originally a member of the royal family rather than a noble, there was no word equivalent to von attached to her. As it was, it was "Sabine Zegreius", and formally, there were many words in between… the name of the family on the mother's side, the name as a follower, and so on, so it was really long.
Therefore, Mitsuha did not think deeply about it.
"I'm Sabine!" (Sabine)
“I'm Colette!” (Colette)
"Pleased to meet you!!" (Sabine + Colette)
Yes, the child's name was enough.
And thus, their study abroad life began….
