But even though I was asked for advice, I had never organized a tournament before.
I had never been a member of the school cultural festival executive committee or sports festival executive committee.
Well, I had been a recluse, so I had never actually participated.
In my view, such matters seemed more suited for professionals.
If it were working adults, maybe an event planning company?
Well, I couldn't imagine there would be a company like that in this world.
If someone who had worked at an event company was transported to another world, they might be able to use their experience to start a business.
"By the way, are Fina and Shuri participating?" (Yuna)
"Lianna-san asked me to go, so I'll be going." (Fina)
"Going~" (Shuri)
Apparently both of them were planning to attend.
After finishing my meal, I decided to go with Fina to meet Lianna .
By the way, Tilmina-san and Shuri said they were going out to buy dinner and parted ways.
Fina and I were coming to the Commercial Guild.
Inside the Commercial Guild, there were as many people as ever and it looked busy.
"Um, where's Lianna-san?" (Yuna)
I looked for the reception desk.
"Ah, Yuna-san!" (Lianna)
Before I could find Lianna, she called out to me.
After Lianna asked the other receptionists to take over her work, she came to me.
"Yuna-san, where have you been?" (Lianna)
"Sorry, I'm in the royal capital for a bit of work..." (Yuna)
I didn't think there would be any need to apologize, but when I saw Lianna-san's "I finally got to meet you" look on her face, I felt like I had to apologize.
"Did Fina bring you here? Thank you." (Lianna)
Lianna shook Fina's hand and thanked her.
"Please come here." (Lianna)
Fina and I were taken to a separate room at the back.
"Is your job okay?" (Yuna)
It looked like he'd slipped out though.
"I decided to take a late lunch, so I left." (Lianna)
"So, I heard you wanted to consult me about the Reversi Tournament." (Yuna)
"Yes. Reversi is a big seller. So we tried to get people excited by holding tournaments, but not many people showed up." (Lianna)
"Are they selling that well?" (Yuna)
"It's a big hit because it's a game that can be played by people of all ages and genders." (Lianna)
"But there are so few participants?" (Yuna)
"Yes" (Lianna)
Well, Reversi was something you play with family and friends for fun and it's probably not something you should enter into a tournament.
However, some people want to test their abilities and want to play games with other people.
"Did you consult with Mylaine-san?" (Yuna)
Mylaine-san was the guild master of the Commercial Guild.
As expected of a guild master, she was a talented person, so she might have an idea or two to bring people together.
"The GM is busy, so it's hard to discuss it with her. Besides, this is something I came up with." (Lianna)
You don't want to cause any trouble, huh?
In that case, would it be okay for me to do it? Well, it would be bad manner to think that way.
To be relied upon meant to be trusted.
Since I was indebted to Lianna, I had decided to squeeze out all the wisdom I had.
"Is there a list of participants?" (Yuna)
"Yes. Here it is." (Lianna)
The materials were already prepared and were provided promptly.
The list of participants included names and ages.
There were just over 10 people.
There were also the names Fina and Shuri.
"What's the participants target?" (Yuna)
"The more the better. But with this many people…" (Lianna)
Admittedly, this number was small.
"Show me the tournament materials too." (Yuna)
She gave it to me right away.
Well, anyone could participate, it would be like a tournament, and the last person standing would be the winner.
It's simple.
Hmm, what should I do?
I had no experience hosting an event.
However, I had read manga that hold events and participated in game events.
That was where I got ideas from.
"Is it possible to change the rules of the tournament now?" (Yuna)
"Rules? As long as it's not a big deal." (Lianna)
"So now I'm going to tell you, tell me what you can and can't do." (Yuna)
"Yes, I understand." (Lianna)
"First of all, it would be better to have a tournament with an age limit. That way, children can easily participate, and adults can participate without feeling awkward because they won't be competing against children." (Yuna)
Many tournaments have age restrictions.
In sports, there are divisions for elementary school students, junior high school students, high school students, university students, and working adults.
Of course, there are cases where it's different.
"That may be true. My dad invited me too, but he said, 'Even if I beat you guys, I might still be criticized.'" (Fina)
It would be no fun for an adult to beat a child, and it would be embarrassing for an adult to lose.
There was no advantage to an adult beating a child, only disadvantages.
To use Gentz-san's words, there was no benefit to adults being involved.
"If an adult beats a child, the people watching might criticize the adult. So it might be hard for adults to participate." (Yuna)
Some people might tell you to go easy on them.
"That's true. I didn't think too deeply about that. I thought people would participate regardless of age or gender." (Lianna)
"For now, if we separate the tournaments by age limit, I think it will be easier for both children and adults to participate." (Yuna)
"What age would be good?" (Lianna)
I didn't know about that.
I couldn't make a decision.
"Um, at twelve years old." (Fina)
Fina spoke.
"Twelve years old? Why?" (Yuna)
"You can register for Adventurer's Guild from the age of 13." (Fina)
I remembered hearing something similar when I registered as an adventurer.
"I don't know if 13 years old is a child or an adult, but I think for a child, 13 is the gateway to adulthood. It feels like you've been semi-recognized by adults." (Fina)
"That may be true. It's similar in the Commercial Guild. Some kids are given jobs because they're thirteen." (Lianna)
"Well then, the children's division is for ages 12 and up." (Yuna)
In my original world, they would be around elementary school age.
"I think that's good." (Lianna)
"So, the adult division is for people 13 and over." (Yuna)
At 13 years old, it would be not unusual for someone to challenge adults.
On the other hand, if they entered the children's division, it could look like junior high school students bullying elementary school students.
"Also, there will be things like separating them by gender or by age group." (Yuna)
"We don't know if the number of people in that area will increase." (Lianna)
Indeed, there was a possibility that there would be only one elderly participant.
"Well, leaving aside the gender and age issues, we need to motivate people to participate next time." (Yuna)
"Motivation?" (Lianna)
"That's a benefit. There's no prize for winning." (Yuna)
It was common knowledge among humans that more people would participate if there were prizes or cash prizes.
Well, some people would call it an honor.
"Just in case, I have prepared some money. It's not much, but it's a reward." (Lianna)
When I asked how much it was, it was small.
"That won't bring them together." (Yuna)
"But it costs money to make posters, arrange a venue, and do other things." (Lianna)
Well, it would cost money to host an event.
It was not something that could be done for free.
"We do receive some funding from people involved in Reversi, but it's not a lot." (Lianna)
I was wondering where the money was coming from, but it turned out it's coming from places like that.
"Well then, I'll offer something. If you win, or if you make it into the top three, I'll give you an all-you-can-eat ticket to Bear's Relaxing Shop." (Yuna)
"All-you-can-eat?" (Lianna)
"That's right. First place is for to the whole family. Second place is two times of all-you-can-eat for the person only. Third place is one time all-you-can-eat meal, something like that?" (Yuna)
"I don't think there'll be any benefit to Yuna-san's store." (Lianna)
"There's no benefit to the store, but if the game gets popular and Reversi sells, I'll get some money in my pocket, right?" (Yuna)
It was a Reversi privilege.
Ten percent of the profits from Reversi went into my pocket.
In other words, money would come in without me having to do anything.
If you thought of it as giving back that money, it would be no big deal.
Besides, I was just thinking about how to spend my money. This was within the acceptable range.
"That will increase participation, right?" (Yuna)
"I'm sure it will increase. But how many of the whole family do you think it will include?" (Lianna)
"For the children's section, it would be parents, grandfathers, and grandmothers. For adults with children, it would be children and parents." (Yuna)
The winner's family was limited to two degrees of kinship.
It would be a problem if relatives who lived far away were invited.
"Um, what would you do if their grandpa or grandma won?" (Lianna)
If they had lots of children and lots of grandchildren, it would be going to be a big mess.
It didn't necessarily mean they wouldn't win.
If I didn't decide this at the beginning, it could cause problems.
"Hmm, any number is fine." (Yuna)
"Is that okay?" (Lianna)
"It won't be 100 people or anything. Maybe 30 people at most? If it's around that number, there won't be a problem." (Yuna)
"No, there's a problem. How much do you think it's going to cost?" (Lianna)
I had the Reversi profits, also, I had money coming in from selling monsters this time, so I was at a loss as to what to do with the money.
For about 30 people, no problem.
To begin with, I wondered how many grandparents would participate.
Furthermore, I thought the chances of winning were pretty low.
"If a grandfather or grandmother from such a large family wins this time, we can limit the number of participants the next time." (Yuna)
On the other hand, if an older person played Reversi and they were good at it, I would happy about that too.
"Yuna-san, if that's okay..." (Lianna)
I had no problem, so that would be the end of the story.
"And now..." (Lianna)
Is there something?
"Um, how about we give them a stuffed Kumayuru and Kumakyu as a present?" (Fina)
While we were thinking about this, Fina spoke up.
