Corbeau tried to struggle, but the knight held him down. In the end, he fell to his knees with his head hanging. Then Corbeau was taken out of the room by the knights. Apparently he no longer had the strength to make a fuss, so he obediently let himself be taken away. Maybe he gave up because he had been abandoned by his parents, who were his last resort. He hung his head and looked lifeless.
"It's finished." (Marne)
"In the end, Ellelaura-san cleaned everything up." (Yuna)
There was no role for me or Marné-san.
"The right person in the right place. It was only because of Ellelaura all went so smoothly. If it had been just me and Yuna, he might have been able to protect his son." (Marne)
Certainly, that was possible. It was the same when Misa was kidnapped, but because Ellelaura-san was there, things went smoothly and we were able to capture the evil nobleman. I think Marné-san called Ellelaura-san because she understood that. But I've always wondered, who exactly is Ellelaura-san? She really is a mysterious woman.
"Is this the end of my role?" (Ellelaura)
"Ellelaura, thank you. You saved me." (Marne)
"You're welcome" (Ellelaura)
"I'll thank you next time." (Marne)
"I want your thanks, but first, I want you to help me explain my situation to His Majesty." (Ellelaura)
"Did you come here without telling the King?" (Yuna)
"It must have been Marné-sama who sent the urgent letter, right? So, I left a note and left right away." (Ellelaura)
"...I'll thank you in other ways." (Marne)
"No, or I'll get angry." (Ellelaura)
"...I understand." (Marne)
Marné-san resignedly accepted Ellelaura-san's conditions. Will the two of them be scolded by the King? But this was an emergency. But they could have sent someone else. It was a difficult question to judge. Well, that didn't concern me.
"Umm, Ellelaura-sama. My son..." (Corbeau's father)
Oh, I forgot. The problem was solved, but we're still inside the mansion. Corbeau's parents were also there.
"It's a crime that happened in this city, but it's a crime committed by a pharmacist, so I want to take him to the Royal Capital." (Marne)
Marné-san answered in place of Ellelaura-san.
"That's the case, but may I take him to the royal capital?" (Ellelaura)
"That's fine. We have nothing to say. Please make sure to give him a proper punishment." (Corbeau's father)
He then met with the witnesses that Ellelaura-san had gathered, who were angry with the lord and his wife. Although Marné-san had been told not to apologize, the lord and his wife did and told us that they had banished their son from the Ferriton family and he was no longer a nobleman. He then promised the pharmacists that he would create a medicinal herb garden, which made them very happy. However, people looked at me as if to say, "Why is there a bear there?"
And then another issue was the treatment of the men who attacked us. It seemed that in this case, the men had been pulling strings behind the scenes. They went around urging other roughnecks like themselves not to help Corbeau even when he asked them to. Apparently, they had snuck out of the Adventurer's Guild's room to do something like this. Even if we could make what happened to them disappear, it didn't erase the bad things they did in the past. Even if it was done at the direction of Corbeau. After all, they were helping with a crime at his request. Marné-san was asked for forgiveness, but she firmly replied, "The only thing I promised was to pretend you never attacked me." However, feeling sorry for them, she offered the men an alternative. To work as a security guard for this city. Since the men understood the underbelly of the city, it would also contribute to crime prevention. They were saying, "How could we be errand boys for a nobleman?" but when Ellelaura-san said, "In that case, you'll have to do physical labor in an underground construction site until you die," they readily said, "I'll do it." The rest was the lord's job, so it was left to Corbeau's father.
"Thank you Marné-san and Yuna-chan." (Lydia)
"Thank goodness." (Zect)
We thank Lydia-san and Zect-san for their testimony.
"With this, my role is truly complete, so we will return to the royal capital." (Marne)
Their sister's illness had almost completely healed. Other sick people seen by Marné-san were also improving. The rest would be examined by Kabo-san.
"I'm glad I got to meet Marné-san." (Lydia)
"As for the thanks, herbs are fine. I'll request it from the adventurers' guild from now on, so please handle that." (Marne)
Now that Corbeau had disappeared, Marné-san would make a request to the Adventurer's Guild in this town, who would then pass the request on to Lydia-san and her brother as a designated request.
"Yes, leave it to us." (Lydia)
"Leave it to us." (Zect)
From now on, I wanted them to use the money they earned to make themselves happy. Fair pay for fair work. There's nothing more unfortunate than working for free.
"Marné-sensei" (Kabo)
Kabo-san came in as Lydia-san was about to leave.
"I learned a lot from seeing Marné-sensei's work." (Kabo)
"You should be honored to have had the chance to see my concoctions up close. And make sure you clean up before I come again." (Marne)
"Please don't come again." (Kabo)
"That's right. I don't think I'll come, but it was nice to see you doing your jobs properly as a pharmacist."
"……-sensei" (Kabo)
"From now on, you must continue to do your job as a pharmacist properly. You don't want to end up like Corbeau. If you do, then I'll come for you." (Marne)
"Then it's okay because we'll never see each other again." (Kabo)
Marné-san smiled at Kabo-san's words. In other words, he would become a great pharmacist. Marné-san also received words of gratitude from other pharmacists. They seemed happy to be free from Corbeau.
"So, what happens to Corbeau?" (Yuna)
I asked what had been bothering me.
"If I had been killed, the death penalty would have been a certainty. But since I'm still alive, I think we'll have to discuss it with the Pharmacy Guild before deciding on Corbeau's punishment." (Marne)
"Don't say scary things." (Yuna)
"In reality, Corbeau didn't kill anyone. And I don't have the authority to punish Corbeau. All I can do is go to the Pharmacy Guild and ask them to strip him of his license as a pharmacist." (Marne)
"Now that I think of it, the Pharmacy Guild." (Yuna)
"It's a guild that manages pharmacists. Whether you join or not is up to you, but there are many benefits to being a member, so there are a lot of pharmacists who are members. Things like dispatching them to towns where there is a shortage of pharmacists, sharing the habitats of medicinal herbs and the effects of new medicines, and information on what diseases are on the rise. If information is shared between pharmacists, it will be possible to deal with them more quickly." (Marne)
"There isn't one in this town?" (Yuna)
"No. Maybe the royal capital and other cities with large populations? That's why we have to take Corbeau to the royal capital." (Marne)
I see, so Corbeau will be punished as a pharmacist in this matter. But since Corbeau was the son of a nobleman, it was Ellelaura-san's turn. And so, although a lot of things happened, our mission was complete and we decided to return to the royal capital.
"I've been waiting." (Ellelaura)
"Ellelaura-san?" (Yuna)
When I went outside the city, I found Ellelaura-san. There were also knights and a carriage next to her.
"Ellelaura-san, what's with that outfit?" (Yuna)
Ellelaura-san's outfit was not the usual dress-like clothing. It looked like riding clothes.
"Since I'm here, I thought I'd take the Kumayuru-chan and Kumakyu-chan back to the royal capital." (Ellelaura)
As Ellelaura-san spoke, the knight behind her stepped forward.
"Marné-sama, please stop Ellelaura-sama. Tell her you're going home on the bear." (A knight)
It seemed like she was being selfish and causing trouble for the knights.
"Ellelaura, don't bother the knights." (Marne)
"Well then, Marné-sama will go back in the carriage, and I will ride with Kumayuru-chan and Kumakyu-chan." (Ellelaura)
"No. I'll be the one riding Kumayuru and Kumakyu home." (Marne)
"Marné-sama has been with them for a long time, so I thought it would be okay to give it to me." (Ellelaura)
"That's separate from this. Yuna is my bodyguard. That means Kumayuru and Kumakyu are with me, too." (Marne)
The two of them began arguing. All the knights had troubled expressions on their faces. And for some reason, they looked at me. So you want me to do something? I don't like it. But I'm sure I'm the only one who can stop them.
"You two, don't make noise in a place like this." (Yuna)
"Which one, Yuna?" (Marne)
"Which one, Yuna-chan?" (Ellelaura)
They both looked at me at the same time.
"Well, there's the knights too, so if the two of you get along well and go home in the carriage..." (Yuna)
"No." (Ellelaura + Marne)
Their voices harmonized. Well, it doesn't matter either way, let's just go home.
In the end, I couldn't stop Ellelaura-san. The deal ended with Ellelaura-san and Marné-san riding together. Marné-san was supposed to be riding alone but ended up with two people so he seemed unhappy, but Ellelaura-san seemed satisfied. The knights slowly returned to the royal capital with the carriage carrying Corbeau.
Then, with us on board, Kumayuru and Kumakyu set off towards the royal capital.
This would be explained later, but Corbeau was sent to a distant village where there was no pharmacist. Although he had a difficult personality, he had the skills to be a pharmacist. So he ended up working as a pharmacist in the village for three years. If he worked hard for three years, he could return to the royal capital. Isn't attempted murder a bit too easy? I thought. Marné-san seemed to say, "It's okay because I'm not dead," and "If Corbeau saves more people from now on, the attempted murder will be forgiven." It would be good if he could rehabilitate, but I wondered. Well, it was not my job to worry about that. That was the job of the Marné-san and the Pharmacy Guild.
Author's Note
Finally, it's finished.
I haven't really put much thought into writing this, so I apologize if it's a bit rambling.
When I wanted to write about _YUNA's healing magic and the distinction between pharmacists and priests, I ended up not just writing about herbs, but also introducing an unscrupulous pharmacist.
