Chapter 833

The Bear Watches the Battle Between the Giant Monkey and the Goblin King

Published: 6 November 2024

...A magic circle that summons monsters.

Marne-san took out a piece of paper and writes out part of the magic circle she saw earlier.

At this moment, she remembered it well.

"Is this part mana amplification? I've seen this place before, maybe it was a range expansion? I didn't see this part in the right position, so I wonder what it is." (Marne)

Marne-san muttered as she looked at some of the magic circles she had written.

"...It's no good. There is so many different magic circles combined, I don't understand it. The person who created this magic circle is a genius." (Marne)

I heard he was a wizard who was banished from the castle, but I wondered if Marne-san didn't know about that?

There seemed to be a gag order in place, so maybe she didn't know.

"Of all places, I wish they wouldn't build it here." (Marne)

It's certainly unlucky to create a magic circle so close to Marne-san's destination.

"But it's been several months since then, right? There are no mages around, so do magic circles still stay activated?" (Yuna)

"I don't know the conditions for it to activate, though. If it's mana, then maybe the Red Monkeys' mana, and the magic stones of the monsters they defeated, are providing the power that keeps it activating." (Marne)

Once you've finished using it, please dispose of it properly before leaving.

Being involved with a wizard I'd never met for the third time made me feel like I was possessed.

The first time was when 10,000 monsters attacked the royal capital.

The second time, I was indirectly involved in the Seraille stalking incident.

And this was the third time.

Did I do something bad to this wizard? I want to complain.

Even so, just as I was thinking that he had left behind an incredible souvenir, Kumayuru and Kumakyu started to cry again, "Kyu~n."

What next?

When using the detection skill, a mark moved at an incredible speed.

The reaction was from Goblin.

But it moved fast.

I moved my eyes from my detection skill to the bottom of the waterfall.

At that moment, a large, hulking goblin leaped out of the forest.

Then it attacked the Red Monkeys, who was eating the wolves.

"Is that a goblin?"

"It's too big."

It looked familiar.

"...Goblin King." (Yuna)

"Wait, wait, the Goblin King?" (Zect)

Zect-san looked at the Goblin King in disbelief.

I was sure of it because I had seen it before.

"The Goblin King is the king of goblins. It's a very powerful monster, right?"

"Yes, it's a rare monster that is said to be a unique mutation of goblins. It appears very rarely in goblin hordes. Its population is not widely known. If you see one, you're told to run away. It's an emergency monster."

Come to think of it, I remembered Helen-san looking flustered when I reported to Adventurer's Guild about the Goblin King's defeat.

It's a fond memory.

The Goblin King swings his sword at the Red Monkeys eating the wolves.

The Goblin King attacked the Red Monkeys one after another.

The Red Monkeys climbed a tree to escape, then jumped off the tree, jumped onto the Goblin King's back and bit him.

The Goblin King stretched out his arm, grabbed the Red Monkeys clinging to his body, and slammed them to the ground.

He then swung his sword at the Red Monkey, who attacked him from the tree.

The Red Monkeys fell one after another.

Maybe if I defeated the Goblin King after he defeated the Red Monkeys, then it would be okay.

Just like last time, I would have to make a deep hole and use Bear Magic to kill.

"We're lucky the Goblin King will defeat the Red Monkeys. Now all I have to do is defeat the tired Goblin King, right?" (Yuna)

In other words, it's a case of reaping the benefits.

When I said that, everyone looked at me as if I was a stupid child.

"Yuna, do you know? It's the Goblin King."

"I know."

"If an average adventurer was asked to fight either a swarm of Red Monkeys or the Goblin King, they would choose the Red Monkeys. Of course, a swarm of Red Monkeys is dangerous too. But if you take them down one by one with skill, they're not monsters you can't defeat. But the Goblin King is different. Magic that can defeat the Red Monkey won't work on the Goblin King. You may be able to defeat the Red Monkey with an iron sword, but it won't defeat the Goblin King. You need strong magic and weapons to defeat the Goblin King."

Certainly, I remembered firing Bear's Wind Magic several times and defeating him. If it was a normal monster, it would be defeated in one hit.

"Well, it's okay. I've fought him before and defeated him." (Yuna)

I talked about the Goblin King, since it's something that could be found out with a little research.

Plus, knowing that I had defeated the Goblin King might put Marne-san and the others at ease a little.

"...Did you defeat the Goblin King?"

"That's why, it's okay." (Yuna)

"Oh, come to think of it, she has also defeated cockatrices and wyverns. I had heard from Ellelaura and Sanya that Yuna was strong, so I thought I knew it, but she is really out of the ordinary." (Marne)

Lydia-san and Zect-san were surprised by Marne-san's words.

Just when it seemed the Goblin King was gaining the upper hand and would defeat the Red Monkeys, Kumayuru and Kumakyu cried out. At the same time, the forest shook.

To be precise, the trees in the distance swayed.

"What?"

"Something is coming."

The swaying of the trees approached the Goblin King like dominoes.

The shaking became evident.

What appeared was a giant monkey.

"What is that big monkey?"

The giant monkey ran towards the Goblin King.

Fast.

The Giant Monkey jumped.

The Goblin King, who was fighting the Red Monkeys, was slow to react.

As the Goblin King turned around, the Giant Monkey delivered a flying kick.

The Goblin King was kicked away and rolled on the ground.

The Giant Monkey laughed as he jumped on the rolling Goblin King.

The Goblin King quickly rose to his feet and howled at the laughing Giant Monkey.

The battle between the Goblin King and the Giant Monkey began.

"What is this? I've never seen such a Giant Monkey."

"The Goblin King is quite strange, huh."

On the detection skill were Goblin and Red Monkey.

I was going to give up pointing it out now.

I would prefer it to be displayed as King, Jumbo, or Emperor.

"Who's going to win?"

There was information on the Goblin King, but nothing on the Giant Monkey.

"Marne-san, which one is stronger?" (Yuna)

"I don't know of any. I've never heard any reports or stories of a Goblin King fighting a Giant Monkey. And besides, I've never come across a place where I'd see such a fight." (Marne)

That's true, but I wished Marne-san had predicted it a little better.

The Goblin King gripped the great sword he was holding in his hand and attacked the Giant Monkey.

"The Goblin King has the advantage because he has a weapon."

The Goblin King raised his wrist and the Giant Monkey grabbed it.

The contest of strength began.

When you put them side by side you could see their sizes.

The Giant Monkey was a size larger.

The Goblin King glared at the Giant Monkey, but the Giant Monkey was smiling. And just as the Giant Monkey shifted its body to the side, the Goblin King was overwhelmed and fell forward.

Seeing the Goblin King, the Giant Monkey clapped his hands and laughed.

"Isn't that Giant Monkey playing with the Goblin King?" (Zect)

I was thinking the same thing as Zect-san.

"Unlike the Goblin King who relies on brute force, the Giant Monkey fights with thought." (Marne)

I think what Marne-san said was true.

That difference was evident in the battle.

The Goblin King ran forward and swung his sword at the Giant Monkey, who dodged the sword left and right, then finally jumped towards the Goblin King.

Then, he spun in the air and kicked the Goblin King's head.

Not a perfect match.

The Goblin King roared in anger.

The sword held by the Goblin King glowed red.

Did he put mana into the sword?

The Goblin King ran towards the Giant Monkey, and when he closed the distance, he swung his sword.

Fast.

But it's pointless if it didn't hit.

The Giant Monkey dodged the sword, stepped forward, and punched the Goblin King away.

The Goblin King was blown away, and the sword separated from him, flew into the air, and after spinning several times, it plunged into the ground.

The Goblin King quickly regained his balance, but the Giant Monkey was faster.

He was running at the same time he was hitting him.

When the Giant Monkey jumped, performed a flying kick.

The Goblin King was kicked and rolled on the ground.

"That giant body..."

Marne-san and the others were stunned as they witnessed the unbelievable sight.

I also never thought it would be so one-sided.

The fallen Goblin King staggered back to his feet.

Just when it seemed he was going to continue attacking, the Giant Monkey turned his back on the Goblin King and started walking away.

"Is the battle over?"

"No. Look at that face."

The Giant Monkey was smiling.

He walked slowly towards the Goblin King's sword, which was stuck in the ground.

He pulled out the sword and swung it easily both vertically and horizontally.

Even here, I could almost hear the wind blowing.

Lydia-san's body trembled as she heard the sound.

The Giant Monkey happily swung the sword that the Goblin King had been holding.

"Could it be that a monkey with a sword..."

The Giant Monkey turned towards the Goblin King and started walking away.

The Goblin King didn't run away, but instead ran towards the Giant Monkey.

Everyone knew he couldn't defeat the Giant Monkey.

The Giant Monkey swung his sword down at the running Goblin King.

The sword sunk into the Goblin King's shoulder...

It couldn't be cut off. The Goblin King's body stopped the sword.

The Goblin King stepped forward and punched the Giant Monkey in the face, sending the sword flying away from the Giant Monkey.

The Goblin King struck back.

The Goblin King pulled out the sword stuck in his shoulder and took it back.

The Goblin King readied his sword with one hand. His left arm, which had been cut by the sword, was hanging down.

The Giant Monkey that had been hit stood up. The laughter was gone, and now he looked angry.

The Giant Monkey moved. The Goblin King swung his sword. The Giant Monkey dodged. Then the Giant Monkey's long arm reached out towards the Goblin King's face.

It hit him in the face.

The moment I thought that, blood spurted from one of the Goblin King's eyes.

"Stuck your finger in the eye?!"

The Goblin King endured and swung his sword again.

However, the Giant Monkey got behind the Goblin King and strangled him.

Fast.

The Goblin King tried to shake it off, but couldn't.

After a while, the Goblin King stopped moving.

The Giant Monkey moved away from the Goblin King.

"Is he dead?" (Lydia)

No one answered Lydia-san's question.

Normally I would use my detection skills to check, but I couldn't take my eyes off the Giant Monkey.

The Giant Monkey came before the Goblin King, who was standing with his arms folded.

Wondering what he was going to do, he tried to grab the sword from the Goblin King's hand.

However, the Goblin King's grip on the sword was stiff and wouldn't let go.

However, that was only a matter of time, and with the Goblin King dead, there was no way left to oppose the Giant Monkey.

The Giant Monkey got the sword.

And then he brandished the sword with the joy of a child who had just found a toy.

The Giant Monkey grinned when he saw the Goblin King standing with his arms raised.

"No way."

"You've got to be kidding me."

Everyone realizes what the Giant Monkey was trying to do.

The Giant Monkey swung the sword at the Goblin King.

The Goblin King's arms were cut off, and finally his head was chopped off.

Author's Note

It was a battle between the Goblin King and the Giant Monkey.

Actually, in the plot stage, it was a battle between Tigerwolf and the Giant Monkey. When I actually wrote it, when I tried to write the Giant Monkey strongly, Tigerwolf ended up being weak, and I couldn't write it well, so I changed it to the Goblin King.

So, I would have liked the last story to have been about goblins rather than wolves.

If it becomes a book, I'd like to rewrite that part.

I apologize if it seems odd to have the Goblin King appear after the Wolf.

*I apologize if the next post is late. There will be a series of fighting scenes, so it may be delayed.

*Posting will occur every 4 days.

*If I will be taking a break, I will announce it in the postscript, and if I am suddenly unable to post, I will let you know in the activity report or on X (formerly Twitter).
