"Look, I brought you work." (Knight)
When the knight said that, he casually put Wolf out of his item bag onto a nearby table.
"I brought the work, so you should be grateful and dismantle it." (Knight)
The knights laughed and placed the wolves on the table one after another.
That table was not the one on which the corpse of a monster was placed. Originally, it was a table for adventurers to eat and drink.
There were other tables to put monsters on. If I were the receptionist, I would hit them. But the receptionist didn't get angry and thanked them.
"I am always grateful for your help" (Receptionist)
"It seems that the adventurers in this town cannot subdue Wolf." (Knight)
When one knight looked around and laughed, the knights around him laughed as well.
None of the captains noticed my wind magic, so there was no one to reprimand me. Since they were only subordinates, there was a high possibility that the captain was also a terrible person.
I pulled Noa's body and hid behind the pillar so that they wouldn't notice.
I waited patiently for the knights to leave the adventurer's guild.
After a while, I saw them left the adventurer's guild with laughter, and then we came out from behind the pillar.
There was no knight, there was a slain wolf on the table, and the receptionist was gesturing toward the door where the knights had left.
I understood that the gesture was meant to insult the other person, so I quietly covered Noa's eyes.
It was not good for education.
After confirming that the receptionist had stopped gesturing, I headed towards her.
"Ah, you showed us your naughty side." (Yuna)
When the receptionist realized that we were watching, she laughed and tried to fool us.
"Who is that knight?" (Yuna)
"The knights have no choice but to take away the work of adventurers, what are they doing?" (Receptionist)
"Taking away adventurers' jobs..." (Yuna)
"It's just as I said. The lord of this city has his knights do the job of subjugating monsters, so there's no work for adventurers." (Receptionist)
"I can't believe that the lord of the city would take away an adventurer's job." (Noa)
Noa who was also the daughter of a lord, puffed her cheeks at this lord's methods.
"No one can resist. That's why most adventurers moved to other cities, and the only ones left are those who don't have any power." (Receptionist)
The receptionist glanced at the adventurers in the corner.
Even though there was such a commotion, she remained indifferent without looking at me.
"Then, they force the Adventurer's Guild to dismantle the monsters they have defeated. But in reality, without the task of dismantling them, the Adventurer's Guild would not be able to operate, so we should not complain publicly." (Receptionist)
That's why when she received a monster from a knight, she thanked him, and when the knight returned, she made that gesture.
"Can't you sue as the adventurer's guild?" (Yuna)
"Every city has its own rules. We have an adventurer's guild in the city. There is a way to block off the guilds in this city, but even if one of the guilds is an adventurer's guild. If there are, tell them they should stay. There are a few of us who agree with that." ()
Considering that, maybe they were drinking when I arrived. But that might mean that they couldn't function without drinking alcohol.
"Besides, if you remained in this town, your mana would be taken away, so the wizards left immediately." (Receptionist)
"Taking magic away?" (Yuna)
"Oh, you live in a nearby village, and you don't know about it? I thought it was quite famous." (Receptionist)
"That is..." (Yuna)
"Well, if you've never been to the city, you probably don't know about it. A few years ago, an order was given to the city to transfer mana." (Receptionist)
Unbelievable words like stealing mana and transferring it came out.
"From ordinary people to adventurers. That's why the wizard fled the city, and his party members also left the city. The only ones left were the adventurers who couldn't use magic. And after the adventurers disappeared. Those fairy knights are doing this work." (Receptionist)
"Fairy knight?" (Yuna)
"That's what the knights from earlier call themselves. And since those knights are stealing adventurers' jobs, they are just complaining." (Receptionist)
"It’s terrible." (Yuna)
"But no one can go against it. Rather than go against it, they can just move to another city. Guilds can't fight either. If the lord issues an order to leave, the adventurer's guild has no choice but to leave. Well, there's nowhere for the adventurers left in the city to go." (Receptionist)
"Can't those adventurers also go to other cities?" (Yuna)
"Some people don't want to leave the city they're used to. They were born in this city, grew up in this city, and have families in this city. For their sake, we have no choice but to be patient." (Receptionist)
I couldn't say anything.
However, there is one word that bothers me. Fairy knight. In this town, there was a lady named Prim who was a fairy. I didn't think she's unrelated.
"That's all for now. I'm sorry. I have to dismantle it." (Receptionist)
I tried to ask about the fairy knight, but the receptionist stopped talking with us and called out to the adventurers around her.
The adventurers began to move and began carrying the wolves on the table.
It was like letting them do their job.
I wanted to ask about the fairy knight, but since I couldn't get in the way of work, I decided to leave the adventurer's guild.
"Yuna-san, it's a fairy knight." (Noa)
As expected, Noa seemed to be interested as well.
"There's a possibility that it has something to do with Prim's sister." (Yuna)
"My sister says she's a friend of those guys!" (Prim)
Prim screamed from Noa's pochette. Noa panicked and held her pochette. No one noticed Prim.
"For now, we don't have enough information, so we need to gather information. For today, let's find an inn and then think about the future." (Yuna)
Noa didn't object, and Prim was reluctant, but agreed.
We came to the inn closest to the adventurer's guild among the multiple inns we learned about at the entrance of the gate.
There was a possibility that I wouldn't be able to stay overnight if Kumayuru and Kumakyu were there, so I temporarily sent them back and then entered the inn.
When I went inside, I saw a girl about the same age as Noa helping around the house.
"Welcome." (A girl)
When she noticed us entering the inn, she called out to us.
But soon, when she saw my appearance, she looked surprised.
"Bear?" (A girl)
"It’s just the two of us, can we stay the night?" (Yuna)
I ignored the girl's reaction and asked.
"Ah, yes. It's okay. M-Mom, we have two guests!" (A girl)
When the girl called out to the back, a woman who I thought was her mother came over.
"Welcome. Let me show you to your room now..." (A woman)
The woman who came to me while calling out to me stiffened when she saw my appearance.
I ignored the reaction and called out again.
"Please show me the room." (Yuna)
"Ah, yes. Is it just the two of you? What about your father and mother?" (A woman)
After all, we were being asked.
"It's just the two of us. We have the money. Come from the village instead of your father." (Yuna)
I answered politely so as not to arouse suspicion, and when I handed over the money, the woman seemed satisfied and led me to my room.
"It's great to take your father's place. Well then, if you need anything, please call me." (A woman)
The woman looked at me curiously, but she didn't ask me any deeper questions.
After confirming that the woman had left the room, Prim came out of Noa's pochette.
"Everyone is surprised by Yuna's appearance." (Prim)
"There's no one who dresses like Yuna-san." (Noa)
There might be a dreamland town somewhere where everyone wore costumes.
When I said it was a dreamland, it sounded like a pipe dream.
Before I talked about what was to come, I summoned Kumayuru and Kumakyu again for crime prevention. Kumayuru and Kumakyu curled up next to me.
"Then I would like to start looking for Prim's older sister in earnest. Noa, do you know where her older sister is?" (Yuna)
When I asked, Noa closed her eyes and began to concentrate.
Normally, she would say something like, "That's over there" right away, but this time it took me a little longer. She tilted her head and appeared to be worried.
"You don't know?" (Yuna)
"Well, what can I say? I can feel it from various places." (Noa)
"Various places?" (Yuna)
"I can feel it everywhere." (Noa)
"What do you mean?" (Yuna)
"It's hard to explain, but up until now I could just tell the direction, but now I can feel it all over the city." (Noa)
"Then you don't know where her sister is?" (Yuna)
"Well, I don't know right now, but maybe I'll find out when I get closer. Later..." (Noa)
"Is there still something?" (Yuna)
"Maybe it was when Prim-san's sister used her mana, but I felt a strong feeling for a moment. Maybe if she used her mana, we might be able to find out where she is." (Noa)
There was a good chance that when she used mana, Noa would feel the mana strongly.
"In that case, it's late today, so I'll start gathering information tomorrow. It might be a good idea to go to the adventurer's guild again tomorrow and ask about it. I'm also curious about that fairy knight." (Yuna)
"That's right. There may be a connection between the fairy knight and Prim-san's sister." (Noa)
I didn't think fairies and fairy knights were unrelated.
"Do you both really think that my sister is with human with such a bad personality?" (Prim)
"When people give names, they often have meanings, so that's one possibility." (Yuna)
Of course, there were meaningless names.
Kumayuru, Kumakyu. "Kuma" came from the word bear, of course, but "Yuru" and "Kyuu" have no particular meaning.
However, if they named a knight a fairy, it was normal to think that they were related to fairies. It was bad for Prim, but if Prim's older sister was in this town, it was quite possible.
After having a simple meal at the inn, we decided to sleep in preparation for tomorrow.
The next morning, I woke up the sleepy Noa, ate a late breakfast, and headed to the adventurer's guild.
In a place where there were no people around, Kumayuru and Kumakyu, who had turned into cubs, were walking in our arms.
It was a defensive measure. Even if Noa were to leave me, Kumayuru and Kumakyu would protect her.
And, as usual, when I walked, I kept getting glances. I walked forward, pulled my bear hood over my head.
At that time,
"Yu, Yuna-chan!" (Rosa)
Someone hugged me, screaming my name.
"What!" (Yuna)
I tried to shake it off, but a familiar face hugged me.
"Rosa-san?" (Yuna)
"Wow, it's Yuna-chan. It's really Yuna-chan." (Rosa)
The person who hugged me was Rosa, who I had worked with to subjugate bandits when Mileela town was being attacked by the Kraken.
Behind them was the harem party Blitz, along with Ran and Glimos.
Author's Note
It was a long time ago, so some readers may have forgotten.
Just as Yuna said, these adventurers worked together to subjugate the bandits who were blocking the road in the town of Mileela, which was being attacked by the Kraken.
If you have forgotten, the Blitz episode is available for free in Comicalized on Pash UP (as of February 26, 2022), so please take a look.
P.S. The name Rosa was originally called Tomea, but it has been changed. We apologize for the inconvenience.
