Chapter 647

Judge, Guild Staff's Perspective

Published: 30 October 2023

I'm Vegad (ベガッド), an employee of the Adventurer's Guild.

A dismantling event was being held today, sponsored by the Adventurer's Guild.

To let people who had never seen a monster see how dismantling was done.

To let new adventurers know how advanced their dismantling skills.

In addition, those who could dismantle would have the opportunity to hone their dismantling skills through friendly competition.

It's an event with a lot of emotion.

Today, people under the age of 19 were supposed to dismantle in the building.

If they were to dismantle together with the veterans, there would be no young participants, and the difference in demolition skills between them and us would discourage them. Therefore, the purpose was to have young guys compete and grow.

So, from my point of view, everyone was just a chick.

No, those two. Gard and Dedd were excellent. Those two people were one or two steps better than the other participants.

Their dismantling speed was fast, and their processing was thorough.

There's no difference in dismantling it with us. All you had to do was dismantle many types of things, gain experience, and if you could dismantle any kind of monster, you could join us.

While there were people who have such hopes for the future, there was a small girl who seemed out of place.

Smaller than my daughter.

I was worried about whether she could even hold a knife.

Apparently, she was recommended by the Guildmaster. When I asked her about it, she said it was to inspire young people.

In the first place, was it possible for a girl like this to dismantle monsters?

If it were my daughter, if she saw a dead monster, she would hate it and wouldn't even approach it, and she would definitely not be able to dismantle it.

I came from the Adventurer's Guild to judge the event and was in charge of the girl and a few other people.

Even if it's the Guildmaster's recommendation, I was going to grade it properly.

Then, at the same time as the moderator spoke, the dismantling of Wolf began all at once.

The girl grabbed a knife and cut Wolf's stomach without hesitation.

Fast.

She's also good with a knife.

My daughter would be too scared to hold a knife. However, the girl in front of me was not in such danger, and she handled a knife skillfully with her small hands. She dismantled Wolf without worrying about the blood on her hands.

If she were my daughter, she would cry and hate it if she got blood on it. Children everywhere were the same.

What kind of environment did she have to grow up in to acquire this level of dismantling skills at this age? Above all else, she had a strong heart.

As I was thinking about this, the moderator and the Guildmaster started talking about the girl's background.

When I heard that, I almost burst into tears.

I couldn't cry in a place like this.

I had no idea that I was so prone to tears.

What about when I was 11 years old?

I was running around and playing with my friends.

I understood what the Guildmaster meant when she said the girl would inspire us. If a girl like this were doing dismantling, she couldn't afford to lose.

I was sure she wouldn't be able to show me anything she's embarrassed about.

My eyes followed the girl.

Girls weren't the only ones I was scoring. There were five people in charge. However, I couldn't help but become curious about the girl. My eyes fell on the girl.

But it's not just me. The other scorers who were not in charge of the girl were also glancing at her.

You guys are probably in charge of something else. Don't look at her.

However, they might not understand that feeling.

That's just how amazing the girl's dismantling skill was.

I took my eyes off the girl once and checked on the other people's dismantling.

That's my job.

And the participants finished dismantling Wolf one after another. The girl's end was near.

Fast.

Her dismantling speed was among the highest over 100 people participating.

If this continued, there was no doubt that she would make it through to the first round.

The girl did not slow down until the end and raised her hand to indicate that she had finished dismantling.

I entered the final grading.

Dismantling procedures, techniques, handling of demolition tools, and the state of the dismantled wolf.

There were no points to deduct.

The only word I could think of was amazing.

Where did the Guildmaster bring such an amazing girl from?

The girl's final ranking was 13th out of over 100 people.

Even though only people under the age of 19 participated, this was an amazing ranking.

After the first round, my friends who were judging the same as me gathered around.

"Hey, what's that girl?"

"Is she really 11 years old?"

"She's smaller than my son."

The gathered friends started to make a fuss about that girl.

"Damn, I wanted to see it up close."

"I was quite close so I could see it, but she was good at dismantling procedures and handling dismantling tools."

"To be honest, she's better than any new adventurer."

"That's true. New adventurers have almost never dismantled anything. It would be pitiful to put them together with something like that."

"Everyone is like that at the beginning."

New adventurers gained experience and grow.

Everyone was an amateur at first. They grew through experience over and over again.

That's why I had doubts.

"In that case, since when did that girl start dismantling things?"

How much time did it take to acquire that dismantling technique? Those of us who had been dismantling for many years understood this.

You wouldn't learn it just by dismantling one or two bodies.

Even if you acquired the skills, your mind could not. Everyone was afraid of monsters, even if they're dead.

At first, anyone who had experienced it knew how tough it was to dismantle something covered in blood.

That girl was smiling every once in a while. You couldn't get to that level unless you really do the math.

"If it's as the Guildmaster said, it seems like she was doing it to support his family."

I wondered if my daughter would dismantle monsters for me and my wife if I were unable to work due to illness or injury.

It's no good, but I couldn't help but compare myself to my own daughter.

My daughter, who didn't grow up through hardships, would be no good.

"If I get injured and can't work, will my son do it for me?"

I had friends who compared their children to my own.

Everyone might think about it.

But where did she learn that dismantling technique?

It is a rule that the monsters that gathered at the Adventurer's Guild were handled by the guild staff. We did not rely on outsiders. Moreover, even if the Adventurer's Guild asked a child to do dismantling work, there was no way they would let the child do it.

Usually, they would be kicked out.

Maybe an adventurer's daughter?

I couldn't even think of that.

It's impossible for me to take my daughter with me to subjugate monsters, so why would I let my daughter do the dismantling in the first place?

The Guildmaster said it was for her family.

Or maybe she was forced to do it by a big bear-like man who told her, "Look, you want money for your family."

If my daughter were to grow up in such an environment, I would not be able to stop crying.

"What was the next dismantling?"

"It's the same as last year, a one-horned rabbit."

The first round was decided every year against Wolf, and the second round was sometimes changed, but it was not an unusual monster.

From the third round onwards, it got a little more difficult and became a different monster than last year.

"One-horned rabbit, huh? Next to Wolf, it's the perfect monster to test your dismantling skills."

It's a bit different from Wolf, but it's a monster that could be dismantled without any problem if they knew the basics.

"Don't talk in a place like this, let's get ready."

We began preparing the one-horned rabbit.

Then, the second round of 60 players began.

There was that girl again in my charge.

Then, the second round begins, and the girl dismantle the one-horned rabbit with the same skill as Wolf.

There was no doubt.

In other words, like Wolf, it has been dismantled many times.

The judges around her were also glancing at the girl.

I guessed I couldn't help but worry about it.

That's right. A girl who was smaller than our children was doing the dismantling. It's weird that she didn't care.

And I wanted to support her.

As a judge, I couldn't be picky, but I felt like I was going to be too lenient in my scoring.

However, there was no need to worry, the girl's dismantling was excellent, and she finished dismantling the one-horned rabbit with great care. There were no points deducted for her, and she moved up a bit from the order in which she completed the dismantling, making it through to the second round.

And the third round was the Gators.

The third round began with the signal from the moderator.

Our consensus was that the Gators were a no-go.

This was different from Wolf and the One-horned Rabbit. To dismantle it required another knowledge.

Gators were monsters that young people didn't often see, even in the Adventurer's Guild.

Therefore, the advantage was limited to those who were part of the Adventurer's Guild and those who could defeat the gator.

As soon as the race started, five people requested to withdraw.

Those who were unable to do so could later receive a free dismantling lesson. Therefore, reaching the third round was not in vain.

If you can't, just learn.

I thought the girl would also give up, but instead she dismantled the gator.

It's not as fast as when she dismantled Wolf. Sometimes she had to stop to think about it, but she continued to disassemble it according to the procedures.

Did she have any knowledge of dismantling Gator??

Me and the judges around me were looking at the girl in surprise.

She might be a little inexperienced, but she seemed to have some knowledge of how to dismantle a gator.

All the judges were rooting for the girl.

Do your best.

Then, one by one, those at the top finished dismantling it.

Every time the moderator said the order in which they were finished, the remaining participant was dismantling more quickly.

However, even in the midst of all this, the girl was dismantling things at her own pace.

It's amazing mental strength.

When it's a competition for ranking, you tended to notice the people around you and wanted to speed up.

And every year, there were a number of people whose dismantling became sloppy.

However, the girl was not influenced by those around her and carefully dismantled it.

I wanted her to win the third round.

I looked around.

The girl's current ranking was just on the edge of making it through to the third round. Moreover, there were many people around there.

Please finish the dismantling as soon as possible.

If the dismantling status was the same, the person who completed the dismantling faster would be ranked higher.

At first, I didn't intend to show any favoritism, but seeing the dismantling so vigorously, I started to want to support her.

The girl then finished dismantle the gator.

She was ranked 20th, but there were 3 other people who finished at the same time, and 4 other people finished at 20th place at the same time.

I would do the scoring.

I wanted to be picky, but I couldn't be.

It seemed like the scoring would be lenient.

However, regardless of my feelings, it was a wonderful dismantling.

There were no problems with the dismantling procedure and how to use the tools. And the final state of dismantling.

That's excellent.

It's perfect.

If she could beat the dismantling speed, she would get full marks.

After that, I would have to compare it with other scorers.

"Really?"

We showed each other's score sheets.

"It would be best to tell them about this before it becomes a problem."

"That's right. There was someone who made a fuss before, complaining about being favoritized."

Before the rankings were announced, we headed over to the men who finished dismantling in 17th and 18th place.

I didn't normally do this, but I did it when I thought it's important for the event to proceed smoothly.

The two who finished in 17th and 18th place prioritized the speed of dismantling, so they lost points because their dismantling was terrible, and when they showed other people's dismantling, they were immediately convinced and didn't make a fuss.

And no one complained about the ranking, and that girl finished in 18th place, making her through to the third round.

Author's Note

Also, I'm sorry for other points of view.

I really wanted to write about Fina's situation from the perspective of someone who knows a lot about dismantling.
