Yesterday, due to an urgent request, I missed the opportunity to hand over the Cockatrice, so I visited the Adventurer's Guild again.
"Yuna-chan, welcome." (Receptionist)
When I arrived at the adventurer's guild, the receptionist immediately called for Sanya.
Whether it's to avoid trouble or because Sanya-san told me to, she acted quickly. I hoped it's the latter and not the former.
"Yuna-chan, I'm sorry for making you take so much trouble." (Sanya)
I had a lot of things happen yesterday so I was late, so I couldn't help it.
"Then, Yuna-chan, come here." (Sanya)
Sanya-san started walking, so I followed behind her. The Adventurer's guild in the capital was large. I moved away from the place where adventurers gather and walk along the passage.
Sanya-san was the guild master of the Adventurer's guild in this capital, so it's really amazing. However, she didn't seem like such a great person.
"By the way, has Deborane come back?" (Yuna)
"I told the receptionist to call me when Deborane comes to the guild, but I haven’t heard anything yet." (Sanya)
Well, that was yesterday. They might have remained in the village after processing and discussing various matters.
"Also, I decided to send the guild staff to the village, so I'm sure they'll contact him. Shall I let you know when they get back?" (Sanya)
"It doesn't matter. If Deborane doesn't use the money for the village, please tell me." (Yuna)
At that time, bear punch would be waiting for him.
Proceeding down the aisle while having a conversation, Sanya-san stopped in front of a large door. Then, when she touched the fist-sized crystal set in the wall near the door, the door began to open.
"This way." (Sanya)
Beyond the door were stairs leading to the basement.
Sanya-san went down to the basement, so I followed behind her.
"Where are you going?" (Yuna)
"There's a storage room in the basement. Please bring Cockatrice there." (Sanya)
When I went down the stairs, I found an area about the size of a gymnasium.
"There's a place like this in the basement of the adventurer's guild." (Yuna)
"Hehe, this is a place that normal adventurers rarely enter. When you subjugate a valuable monster, you bring it out to this place and keep it there." (Sanya)
"Can it preserve?" (Yuna)
"Yuna-chan's item bag can do it too, right?" (Sanya)
"It can, though." (Yuna)
My item bag was given to me by God. So, I kind of understood that it could be done.
"It's similar to that. We use magic circles and magic tools to store them. There are various reasons why we store them, but we store them for use in events like this or store them in the castle. I keep it for monsters research at the Castle's Research Institute." (Sanya)
"Research, that’s what they do." (Yuna)
"If you investigate monsters and find out their weak points, it will be easier the next time you fight. You can find out which part takes the most damage, or which part is being attacked but not." (Sanya)
It was also a game. For example, only 20% of attacks could pass through that part, or 80% of damage could pass through the other that part because it's a weak point.
There was also magic resistance. Fire, water, wind, earth, electricity, which resistance was stronger or weaker? Was the blade a weak point, did it have to be penetrated deep like using a spear, or was a blunt weapon like a hammer effective? Sometimes we couldn't tell just by looking. If it looked like a fire-type or water-type monster, it's easy to tell, but for other monsters, it's often difficult to tell what their weaknesses were.
Having looked at game strategy sites, I understood the importance of this.
"The weaknesses of monsters are valuable information for both the Adventurer's guild and the country. Well, you won't come across monsters that will be studied many times in your lifetime, but you don't know the future. What is researched today may be useful in a few decades or may not be useful at all in a lifetime. But it may be useful tomorrow. You never know. However, if knowledge appears, the probability of defeating the enemy will be different depending on whether it is present or not, and above all, the probability of survival will be different." (Sanya)
That's how important knowledge was.
Even in games, the odds of winning were different depending on whether you know the enemy's information or not, and even if you won, the amount of time you had to fight would be different.
"So, should I get the cockatrice out here?" (Yuna)
"Yes, please." (Sanya)
I took the cockatrice out of the bear box.
It's still the same as when I defeated it.
"Thank you. Oh, I forgot to check yesterday. Are there any other monsters you have?" (Sanya)
Sanya-san asked with a smile.
"..." (Yuna)
I slowly looked away from Sanya-san.
"Hehe, I guess you have it. What do you have? Here, take it out, Yuna-chan." (Sanya)
Sanya approached me with an evil look on her face.
"Because if I give it, they'll probably take all the materials with them." (Yuna)
I didn't need money right now, but my gamer heart said I didn't want to give away the materials (excluding spiders).
Even the cockatrice reluctantly agreed.
"I'll do as Yuna-chan wishes regarding the materials. However, I would like you to hand over some of them." (Sanya)
Sanya made a request while putting her hands together.
It's the same as a cockatrice.
Well, I was thinking of dismantling it someday and using it as a material. No matter how long you could store it, there's no point in just putting it in the bear box.
As expected, I couldn't have Fina dismantle the large Scorpion.
"Okay. Of course, I have to ask about the materials, but I have one more request." (Yuna)
"What? Of course, I'll listen to your wishes as much as possible." (Sanya)
"Let Fina take a close look at the dismantling." (Yuna)
I didn't know if Fina would dismantle it in the future, but I was sure it would be instructive to watch her dismantle it. Of course, I didn't intend to force her to do anything. I intended to respect Fina's feelings.
"Is that okay?" (Sanya)
Sanya-san agreed to my conditions, so I told her about the monsters I had.
Excluding the monsters and cockatrice from the 10,000 monsters, there were wyverns, iron golems (which couldn't be dismantled), Volgrass, Scorpions, Giant Scorpions, Sandworms, and Kamaitachi.
"…Haa" (Sanya)
When Sanya heard my story, she let out a sigh and looked like she couldn't believe it.
"Where is there an adventurer who has encountered, fought, and defeated such a large number of monsters?" (Sanya)
I was right in front of Sanya.
"The same goes for the number of wolves. Even wyverns aren't something you encounter many times." (Sanya)
"Besides, Scorpion isn’t twice or three times as big." (Yuna)
It was really big.
About a three-story building?
"Yuna-chan has defeated Black Viper, Black Tiger, Goblin King, and even King Spider, right?" (Sanya)
Furthermore, I'd also defeated the Kraken and Orochi. I wouldn't say it though.
I didn't have the materials, and if people found out I defeated it, it would be even more troublesome.
"Well, you met that many monsters and survived." (Sanya)
I thought so too.
Well, I was alive, and I was able to defeat it because of the bear equipment God gave me. That's why I was having trouble taking it off.
From temperature management to attack and defense, there was also an item bag, and I could even summon Kumayuru and Kumakyu, so I could do everything I want.
If you didn't care about appearance, this was the best equipment.
...Well, as long as you didn't care about appearance.
"By the way, what is Yuna-chan’s adventurer rank?" (Sanya)
"...C" (Yuna)
"Eh, why? Why?" (Sanya)
"I haven't reported anything about the 10,000 monsters, Scorpions, Sandworms, and Cockatrices." (Yuna)
I hadn't reported anything about the large monster, and I was keeping my mouth shut. There's no way my rank would go up.
"That's right. I'm sorry. The cockatrice was completely my mistake. His Majesty the King is also silent about Scorpion. Well then, let's go through the B-rank procedures later." (Sanya)
"You can leave it as C." (Yuna)
"Why?" (Yuna)
"If I at C, people will look at me in disbelief, but if I get B, no one will believe me." (Yuna)
"I can't help it though. There's no doubt that Yuna-chan is capable, right?" (Sanya)
"Besides, when you came here, you got involved with an adventurer about your rank, right?" (Sanya)
Since I was a C-rank, there was an adventurer who approached me and said that if he defeated me, he would be ranked C. The adventurer was asked to fly. He's just a pain when challenged to a fight.
There was no benefit to increasing my rank.
I didn't intend to use my rank to be intimidating, and just because I had a high rank, I didn't want to be asked to do impossible tasks. My motto was freedom.
"I understand. I won't force you to raise your rank. But, wouldn't it be nice to be able to raise your rank at any time?" (Sanya)
"Well, if that's the case." (Yuna)
"Then let's negotiate with the monsters next." (Sanya)
Even though she was the guild master of the Adventurer's guild, she looked like a businesswoman.
I guessed that meant she hadn't been the guild master of the Adventurer's guild for a long time.
"I won't give up the magic stone." (Yuna)
Also, Jade-san refused to get anything from the Giant Scorpion that is worth it. That's how Sanya-san and I negotiateed about the monsters, and once we're both satisfied, we wrote a contract.
In the bear box, Fina's dismantling wolf, iron golem, and some monsters remained. As expected, you couldn't dismantle an iron golem.
"Thank you, Yuna-chan. Please wait until the event is over to get the money." (Sanya)
I was supposed to sell some of it, so I was supposed to get the money.
"I'm not in a hurry, so it's okay." (Yuna)
And before I left, Sanya-san did something to my guild card.
I couldn't tell that anything had changed just by looking at the card. It seemed like we couldn't see it without the crystal plate in the guild.
"If the time comes that you want to raise your rank elsewhere, just show your guild card to Gilmas there." (Sanya)
I didn't know if that time would come, but I said thank you and headed back to the bear house.
Author's Note
I almost forgot to give the cockatrice.
When writing a novel, write the plot properly.
