Bond Summoning has been ranked higher
"Whoa!? That surprised me!" I was surprised.
Suddenly, an alert for Bond Summoning went off and told me something.
Did its rank go up? Not the level?
"My guess, that giving us names had an effect," Colène said quietly. As expected, having existed for thousands of years, she seemed to know a lot.
"Master, the magic formula that you use is extremely rare, as it utilizes the strength of the bond with the person you contract with. The stronger the bond, the stronger the influence it has on the material world...," Colène added.
"Did giving you names strengthen the bond?" I wondered. When I thought about it, it made sense. Calling each other by their names is bound to deepen your friendship.
It would make sense if the stronger bond had led to improved performance of Bond Summoning.
"What is the difference between ranking up and leveling up?" I asked.
"Maybe the rank goes up when certain conditions, including the level, are met," Colène explained.
I see? So, what do you think the ranked up Bond Summoning can do?
Composite Bond Summon is now available
What is that? After looking into it more closely, it appeared to be a way to summon something using two or more bonds.
I want to try it right away. Can I do it? Yes, I can!
Composite Composite Bond Summon Lv17
> Bond 1: Colène (Automata)
> Bond 2: Goblina(Goblin)
> Summonable: Chainsaw
"Okay, summon!" I tried.
Stop being confused because you don't know what's what just by looking at the words!
Then it came out! What is this!? Even if you see the real thing, you still won't understand!
"This is a Chainsaw," Colène said.
So even though you said I don't know what is it, Ms. Colène!?
"It's a tool for cutting down trees. When you turn it on, this chain with the blades starts rotating...," Colène explained.
Whoa!? It began to move, making a loud noise.
"Please do not touch it carelessly as it is dangerous," Colène warned. Colène held something like a Chainsaw and aimed the rapidly rotating blade at a nearby tree. Because it was the Sea of Trees, trees grew everywhere.
The blade quickly dug into the tree trunk, scattering small pieces of wood everywhere, and finally broke through to the other side. Naturally, a cut tree would lose its support and fall.
"IT'S GOING TO FALL!!" I screamed. I ended up screaming out of reflex. Well, it would be dangerous if someone were to get hit by a fallen tree.
"It's several times faster than cutting wood with an axe or hatchet...!?" I exclaimed.
"The blade's strength and rotation speed are different. The power... appears to be supplied by the Master's magic power. Bond Summoning is a truly interesting technique," Colène explained.
It was a big help that Colène was working so hard on the analysis.
This was the complex Bond Summon.
It was likely that a combination of Goblina's ability to summon weapons and Colène's ability to summon golems caused that to be summoned.
It seemed it was good thing that the scope of things that could be summoned had expanded.
The one who liked the Chainsaw more than anything was, Goblina, one of the two who had summoned it.
Apparently having always had a love for blades, she swung around a Chainsaw with a brighter look in her eyes than she did in Combat Knife.
"So cool! Feels great!" Goblina exclaimed. Carried away by her high-spirited energy, she cut down trees one by one.
"Don't cut them down carelessly. Trees are living things, you know," I warned her, but she didn't listen. One after another, trees with thick trunks lost their support and fell.
"Ah, what are we going to do with that...?" I wondered. You know, the guild will get angry if you carelessly change the environment of the unexplored area? Yeah, there are so many fallen trees...
"Master, I have a suggestion," Colène said. "Why not make effective use of the felled trees? Trees have been an excellent material since ancient times. I'm sure we can make something wonderful using this much lumber."
"Make what?" I asked her.
"House," Colène answered.
House!? If we build a house using trees that have been cut down randomly by Goblina...
"Look, Master, this is a hill," Colène said.
"What?" I responded.
We had not moved from the hill that Colène had once protected and called home.
"This place was once the location of an ancient civilization's facility, so this location is excellent. It's higher than the others, has a good view, and can quickly detect intruders. There's also a water source nearby, so securing water won't be a problem," Colène explained. I was not worried about water though because we had Slappy.
"You want me to build a house here and settle down?" I asked.
"Yes, Master, it will be a stepping stone for you to conquer the Sea of Trees," Colène answered.
Who said I would conquer it? I didn't come to the Ydeonyr Great Sea of Trees with such territorial ambitions!
...Hmm, I guess so. Originally, my purpose was to verify and study Bond Summoning and I intended to return to a human settlement in two or three days to reorganize.
But thanks to Slappy, I no longer had to worry about water, so I had no reason to go home and I can stay here as long as I want.
By now I had welcomed in by a variety of Bond Summon beasts, including Slappy, Goblina, and Colène, so it would probably be a nuisance to walk around town dragging them around. However, at the same time, leaving them in the Sea of Trees and returning to town alone was not an option.
"...Maybe I should settle down in Sea of Trees to further my studies in Bond Summoning," I said.
"Well then, Master...?" Colène responded.
Yes.
"Gather all the timber that Goblina has cut down! We'll use it to build a house!" I declared.
"Squeaeaeaeak!!" Slappy also became motivated and started building the house right away.
"We did it...!" I exclaimed.
A magnificent log house stood before us.
It was the simplest construction, simply stacking logs, but that was why it was completed so quickly. This was also made possible with the help of Goblina and Colène.
"It was fun swinging the Chainsaw around!" Goblina exclaimed. For Goblina it seemed like pure entertainment. It was about time to confiscate the Chainsaw.
"How wonderful...! This will be the castle where Master reigns...!" Colène declared.
"Castle is an exaggeration. It's just a log cabin," I denied.
"But it's impressive that we were able to build the house instantly without referring to any reference materials. It's not just about strength and materials. You're also well versed in proper construction methods. Master, you have a wealth of knowledge," Colène added.
"I've built log homes before, you see," I said to her.
There were requests like that from the guild too. Something like, "Establish a base to explore uncharted territory." When we accepted such a quest, all the adventurers would venture into forests like this one and build a house that could withstand the night dew using only local materials.
By doing these things, I naturally learned how to build a log house.
However, this time it was completed much faster than when it was built at the guild's request. The workmanship was good.
"That's impressive, Master. You are perfect in all areas — combat, magic, and knowledge. I admire you," Colène said that. Her way of lifting was no joke.
So, that was how we built the log house and established our base of operations in the Ydeonyr Great Sea of Trees.
Then, when I finally went inside...
There was nothing.
That's right, it's only natural that it's empty since it was just built. Then, I want furniture to fill the room! Beds, tables, dressers, and more!
Is there no limit to human greed?
Translation Note
Otaku Hikikomori said that the goblin (Goblina) is female, the details about it will be at later chapter, so from now on I'll take Goblina as a female character.
