"That's why, Mile, we shouldn't be in here!" (Mavis)
"No, from the perspective of the people of this town, Crimson Vow is also a party that the local guild master forced into C-rank thanks to Mile-san’s storage magic, so there won’t be much difference if you temporarily join Wonder Trio, who also became C-rank for the same reason. Crimson Vow was also just promoted from the lowest rank to C-rank a while ago, right? I think people will take it that you're catching up with old friends while everyone else is resting, that you're here for your own training, or that you're here to learn how other parties do things." (Marcella)
"…Ah, that’s true… Indeed, for someone like me who has storage, a party with other people who also have storage would be ideal for me to learn from. Ah, but then Reina-san and the others will..." (Mile)
"Ah, that's fine. Have you forgotten about my storage magic? Of course, I can't carry Mile's fortress bathroom and toilet, but I can carry a normal bathtub, a seated toilet, a screen for privacy, cooking utensils, food, bedding, and tents. I can also carry the game I hunted. Unlike you, Mile, I don't have the ability to stop time, but since we'll probably only be taking on day jobs, I guess I can just bring back anything that gets damaged here and quickly move it over to Mile, right? Then, at a later date, we can take it to the purchasing counter as a prey hunted by Crimson Vow. In the first place, there's no need for you to go to the trouble of notifying the guild branch that you will be working with Wonder Trio, right? If it's not a regular request, but a regular request to deliver materials, there shouldn't be any problem, right?" (Marcella)
"That's true. The reason we send it out when we organize a special team is to avoid disputes over the distribution of rewards and achievement points, so for us — Crimson Vow — and Wonder Trio, we don't need to worry too much about that sort of thing." (Pauline)
Although it was a rare conversation about money, Pauline agreed with Mavis and brought it up.
"And so, the three of us remaining are all members of Crimson Vow, so our earnings belong to Crimson Vow. And since your team is a joint team of Wonder Trio and our Mile-chan, your earnings do not belong to Wonder Trio alone, but to both parties jointly, and become the clan's shared assets, right? They become the shared assets, the wallet for common expenditures, for paying rent, food costs, utility bills, and other things..." (Pauline)
"……Eh?" (Everyone, x6)
As expected of Pauline... Everyone except the person who said it let out gasps of shock.
"...P-Pauline, that's a bit much..." (Mavis)
"Pauline, you..." (Reina)
And then there's Mavis and Reina, who were completely shocked.
"Pauline-san, those are for the respective party assets..." (Mile)
As expected, even Mile voiced her opposition. Unlike before, they were no longer short of money, but Pauline was still the same. This must be a habit now... Perhaps it was the same feeling as those people who had money to spare but enjoyed the hobby of buying prepared foods at half price just before closing time.
Marcella and her party weren't particularly short of money. As long as they could spend time with Mile, they didn't care about that. The shared assets were used for the benefit of the clan and are not the assets of Crimson Vow...
"Pauline, if you say that, from now on, all profits from any business that Crimson Vow has been involved in will become joint property. The earnings from switching members to study together, and the rewards from taking on big requests together, all of it!" (Reina)
"Ugh..." (Pauline)
Pauline received a painful blow from Reina.
"……I, I understand……. Let’s forget what I just said…… Please divide your earnings by the number of people and give one-fourth to Mile-chan." (Pauline)
Pauline believed that Crimson Vow earned far more than Wonder Trio. So, she would be worried if Reina's words turned out like this.
There was also an idea to divide the necessary amount among the number of people instead of contributing in this way for the shared assets, but Pauline thought that this would mean that Crimson Vow, which had more members, would have to contribute more, so she insisted that it be from the earnings from working together. Since everyone wasn't too concerned about money, they all agreed, but this somehow made things complicated and caused more worries for Pauline. ...Too stingy. It was so stingy that Reina and the other members didn't even feel like interfering.
On the Old Continent, she not only had territories and assets, but also her own trading company and personal assets, making her very rich. And even if she were to become penniless, Pauline could use her world-class healing magic to make as much money as she wanted from nobles, royalty, and other wealthy people...
But why were she so hung up on money? Did this mean that rather than trying to save money out of necessity, saving money had become her sole purpose in life?
"Pauline-san, money is worth if you spend it. Gold coins in a dresser or a pot buried in the ground are dead money that contribute nothing to society. The money we get has to be put to good use. It doesn't matter if we use it for business or just waste it, but we have to release it into the world and get the economy going..." (Mile)
"Ugh..." (Pauline)
Pauline seemed frustrated after being talked into something by Mile about money and business.
"Well, that's why Mile-san will be staying with us, Wonder Trio, for a few days. Is that okay?" (Marcella)
"...Well, I guess it was your greatest wish to become a Hunter together with Mile, right? It seems you gave up your safe lives to become Hunters just for that purpose... That's fine, that's about it. In fact, we formed the clan to make that possible... In the first place, if you see Mile like that, there's no way you can stop her." (Reina)
…Yes. Mile had a face like a Chihuahua in front of a food container.
"Finally, this day has come..."
"Yes. The day has come when I will set out on an adventure together with Adelle... Mile-chan."
"That night when Mile disappeared and we swore to follow her and meet again..."
"Uuuuuhh..." (All WT, x3)
"Waaahh!" (Mile)
As soon as the four of them — Wonder Trio and Mile — entered the forest near the royal capital, they suddenly started talking about sad things, and the three members of Wonder Trio suddenly started to tear up. Of course, when Mile heard that, there was no way she could not help but cry. There was no way that a C-rank Hunter would expose themself like that in a place where people could see them. Also, after going too far into the forest, there was the danger of monsters, so they couldn't show any openings like that. So this was the only place they could cry. And the four of them continued to hug each other and cry for a while...
"Well then, let's get to work!" (Marcella)
"Yes!" (Aureana + Monica)
"That was quick! Everyone, you switched gears so quickly!" (Mile)
Mile was surprised at how quickly Marcella and her party members switch to normal mode.
"Otherwise, we, mediocre people when it comes to fighting, wouldn't be able to survive." (Marcella)
Monica and Aureana nodded enthusiastically at Marcella's words, but...
"No, that's definitely not the case, right? You guys are all pretty tough and cunning!" (Mile)
Mile didn't believe a word of it at all.
