The method of using healing magic varied for each individual. Just as the best form for throwing a ball differs from person to person, even if someone was taught the same basic form, by repeating the technique, each person's habits would emerge and they would naturally end up with the way of casting magic that suits them best.
Saints who were outstanding enough to participate in the selection committee should no longer learn common methods but should instead devote themselves to mastering their own methods. Had they taken inspiration from the techniques of other Saints they found impressive and integrated those into their magic, or had they seek guidance to more experienced Saints? Either way, the selection meeting was a good opportunity for them to grow as a saint.
Although that was 300 years ago, I had defeated a fair number of monsters and healed the sick, so I should have had some experience. Back then, there was no rule that required you to wait three days after using recovery magic, so magic was used a lot.
"Okay," I muttered to myself, clenching my fist. "I'll do it!"
"Hehe, I got really excited when I saw Fia."
"You have to work hard and be chosen as the second saint."
"I'm rooting for you."
After the three of them cheered me on, I suddenly looked up at them. After looking around the three rooms, we went out into the hallway and sat in the conversation area discussing our future plans.
As a result, they settled on each using the magic they were good at to heal the patients that were best suited to them, but they all decided to observe each other's magic.
It had all begun with a comment from Anna, "Since we're here, I want to see everyone's magic," but I believed it had suited the purpose of this meeting. Everyone nodded in agreement at Anna's frank request, and I added a word of support.
"That's great, I think it suits the Selection Committee's purposes!" Hearing what I said, the three tilted their heads in confusion.
"What is the purpose of the selection committee?"
"The selection committee is being held to decide who will be the next representative for the top saint, right?"
"Seeing the magic of other saints has nothing to do with it, right?"
I nodded in agreement to the questions the three of them asked, "That may be true in the end, but if the only purpose is to decide the top Saint, it would be easier and more fair to just put each Saint in a separate room and have them treat people with similar injuries or illnesses. There's no need to gather them all together like this and have them treat patients with different conditions and levels of difficulty."
Anna, Melody, and Katie nodded in understanding.
"That's true." (Anna)
"But if that's the case, then why did they adopt the current system? It must be a lot of work for the organizers to compare different things and rank them." (Melody)
"I may be overly skeptical, but I think the current method is useful when you want to change the ranking a little, like making someone fourth when they're actually fifth." (Katie)
Katie had been perceptive. While that might have been one aspect, the current method had likely been chosen because they had wanted the Saints to learn. I told them, "I think the country wanted the selection meeting to be a place for the Saints to learn. Since everyone will be doing their best at the selection meeting, it should be a good opportunity to learn the magic of the other Saints. Also, since everyone is good at different magic, you should be able to see the other Saints treating various types of patients."
"What, you're going to learn at the selection meeting? You're always coming up with crazy ideas!"
"I'm sure Fia is the only saint who would think something like that while everyone else is desperately trying to get even a little higher in the rankings."
"Fia is a saint recommended by the King, so she should have a stronger desire to rise."
"That may be true," I said. But it really doesn't matter who comes in first. Once born as a saint, she will remain a saint forever, so what's important is how she can use the magic she desires and save people. But this is just my opinion and what is important to different people may be different.

However, the royal capital is large, and people's memories fade, so even if we happened to meet again, I don't think anyone would say, 'That's the Saint from back then.' So I took the plunge and took off the veil." (Fia)
Hearing what I said, Melody grasped my hand tightly as if she understood, "I understand how you feel, Fia! I'm sure you were thinking about the feelings of the patients. Since it's rare to have a chance to meet the Saints, most people who can cast healing magic on them are extremely nervous. From what I've heard, even after their illness has been cured, they continue to worry for a while, wondering if their condition will return or if their condition will worsen. For such people, the idea of a Saint wearing a veil is full of suspicion and makes them feel uneasy."
Next, Katie also showed understanding, "That's right, there was also an incident where a man wearing a veil pretended to be a saint and was touching the victim's body all over. That was a man pretending to be a saint. There's no way something like that would happen at the selection meeting, but it's creepy for the patient not to know the gender of the other person."

"But why did you participate in the selection committee if you were planning to drop out halfway through?" Katie asked curiously, and I made a mysterious face.
Well, I couldn't say it was to threaten Rose and to find a husband for Commander Savis. Besides, since I had the opportunity to be with some of the most distinguished saints in the country, it had only made sense to take advantage of the chance to exchange learnings. I praised myself to myself, thinking that this flow of conversation was genius. In this way, no one would suspect anything if I were able to do the same thing as the Great Saint.
"Huh!"
"Are you going to teach me the Great Saint's techniques?"
"Isn't that going too far?!"
I smiled at the three of them, their cheeks flushed with excitement, "From now on, I will no longer be able to act as a Saint, so I would be happy if someone could learn and use the skills of the Great Saint."
"Fia!" All three of them exclaimed. Seeing how impressed the three of them were, I felt a little sorry, thinking, "Hmm, they seem to have completely believed my made-up story." Apparently, my fictional story-making skills had improved recently, so it would be no wonder people believe it.
"Unfortunately, I'm not a very practical saint, so I'm not that good at using magic. But I have a lot of knowledge, so I think I can give you some advice. Of course, if you don't need that, I'll just stay quietly in the background." (Fia)
I'd love to learn magic with you if possible, but if you say you want to do it alone, I can't force you.
