Chapter 159

Clown's Apprentice 1

Published: 12 April 2024

I couldn't be happier that Commander Savis was getting married.

That's why I suddenly realized that I needed to express my feelings of blessing correctly.

"That's right! Maybe this is my turn!?" (Fia)

A flash of inspiration struck me, and I crossed my arms in thought.

In the first place, young people were always given the entertainment role to entertain their fellow knights.

And I was 15 years old.

I was by far the youngest member of the First Knight Order, which was staffed by people with over 10 years of experience, so it must be my turn.

After thinking about it for a while, I clapped my hands together.

Seeing me like this, Fabian timidly asked me a question.

"Fia, may I ask what you came up with?" (Fabian)

I looked up at Fabian triumphantly.

"Of course! Fabian, I just came up with something really cool! It's such a blessing that Commander Savis is getting married! And since it's Commander, we're having a celebration and share the joy with the knights." (Fia)

"I agree" (Fabian)

"And since it's a celebration, there will be some performances that will please the Commander." (Fia)

"I agree" (Fabian)

"And young knights should take the lead in such performances. That's why I decided to do my best to show my congratulations to Commander!" (Fia)

"……That's right" (Fabian)

Fabian, who had been affirming with a satisfied look until then, seemed confused for the first time.

"That's right! So, look, there were three clowns at the king's interview, right? I came up with the idea to become disciples of those three!!" (Fia)

"……I wonder what that means." (Fabian)

Fabian was clearly displeased.

"Sorry Fia, but I don't think it's a good idea at all. In fact, I feel like I should just quit." (Fabian)

Seeing Fabian's timid attitude, I decided to actively ask him out.

"Well, I was wondering if Fabian would like to come with me." (Fia)

At that, Fabian jerked his jaw in shock.

"Huh! Ah, yes, of course it's a very honorable invitation, but you see... Fia was the one who made arrangements with Commander Savis at the induction ceremony. That's why I think Commander has special feelings for you. I'm sure Commander's mood will be excited by your congratulations. It would be a waste if your position became 'one of many' and diluted by my joining. I will postpone becoming their apprentice this time!" (Fabian)

Fabian continued in one breath, then suddenly said he remembered something and quickly left.

I stared at that figure in shock.

Well, it looked like Fabian was lacking in celebratory spirit!

Those three were first-class clowns, so if they could teach me some tricks, maybe it would be useful not only for this time, but for the future.

Thinking about this, I smiled.

"Hehe, I was almost scouted by them to join their group! In other words, I must have the talent to entertain people." (Fia)

I changed my expression and headed straight to the king's office.

——To tell you the truth, even though it had been less than 10 days since the king's interview, Cerulean had repeatedly requested to meet with him.

I had been declining the offer for some reason because it seemed like it would be a hassle, but I decided to take advantage of the opportunity and asked for a favor.

When I went to the front of the king's office, I was greeted by familiar knights guarding me.

"Hey, you're Fia! Haha, I heard! I heard that you were liked by a clown. That's why whenever you come, I'm told to let you pass through His Majesty's office... ——From the clown!"

"Ah, apparently you entertained His Majesty the King and the clown so much during the royal interview! I heard you called the clown 'Your Majesty'! That was the wittiest thing ever, and the clown called you... It seems like you are leaning towards it."

"The knights who were there as security guards seemed to be taken aback at first, asking, 'What are you doing, Fia?' But now that I think about it, you did a great job!"

……terrible. Before I knew it, they had created a story that I didn't really understand.

I smiled nervously and entered the office as I was passed.

There were two people in the room: Cerulean and Dory.

Perhaps Ron was going somewhere, following the king.

Cerulean was sitting at the king's office writing something, but when he looked up and saw me, he had a sarcastic look on his face.

"Wow, this is a busy Fia! You have the nerve to turn down my calls over and over again with just the word 'busy'." (Cerulean)

I put one hand to my mouth and let out a graceful laugh.

"Hohoho, I wonder what's wrong with refusing the invitation of a playboy clown." (Fia)

Cerulean threw down his pen and rested his chin in shock.

"...Actually, with that kind of attitude, you could have called me 'my beloved master.' Haa, but the timing was last minute. If you don't come even if I wait until noon, I'll send you my personal bodyguard. I was thinking of telling Laurence to make me a knight." (Cerulean)

"Well, what a king!" (Fia)

When I cried out in surprise at how tyrannical the line was, I was told that it was true.

"Because he's the king." (Fia)

Of course it was.

But I said that Cerulean would pass as a clown.

Remembering this, I continued to be careful not to abuse my power in the future.

"Well, please don't say anything strange! Ceruleans are clowns!"

"...Fia is really excellent."

Although his tone didn't seem like he was complimenting her in the slightest, I took him at face value and replied.

"Well, in that case, why don’t you teach me a lot of things since I’m so talented?" (Fia)

"……What do you mean?" (Cerulean)

Cerulean asked me with a cautious look on his face, and I asked him for a favor.

"I want to become a clown’s apprentice!!" (Fia)

Then Cerulean wrinkled the tip of his nose.

"It's humbling to be an apprentice. I said the other day, 'If Fia wasn't Savis or Cyril's favorite knight, you'd be scouting as a clown.' If that's the case, I'd rather invite you to join me."

"No, it's a heavy burden to be my friend, so I'd like you to act as my disciple!"

Declining with all his might, Cerulean glanced at Dory.

Dory then stood up, smiling, and went into the next room.

Cerulean caught that figure out of the corner of his eye and spun his words as if it was nothing.

"Hmm, either way, it was just right. Dory really likes Fia and has been working on making your costume. She works fast, so maybe it's already done." (Cerulean)

I stared at Cerulean in shock as he continued.

"Huh, no, when did you do such a selfish thing! By any chance, do I have to dress up as a clown too!?" (Fia)

I definitely didn't want to dress like a clown.

Then Cerulean narrowed his eyes in amusement.

"Maybe you'll change your mind once you try on the costume. After all, you'll be freed from all positions, and you won't have any responsibility. Well, in any case, your costume is a clown. It might not look like that. Dory is in charge of all the costumes, but Fia doesn't seem to be a clown in her image." (Cerulean)

"Well, you have a great eye for observation!" (Fia)

I didn't want to dress up like a clown, so I fully praise Dory's foresight for avoiding that.

Then, the person who came back from the next room let out a happy voice.

"Well, I'm glad to hear you compliment me! I think we can probably understand each other. Here is Fia's costume that I put all my effort into making!!"

After saying that, Dory held out the flashy costume he had in his hand.

"Huh? I-I didn't expect that..." (Fia)

The words I was about to say stopped mid-sentence.

What Dory handed me was a flimsy red and white dress.

It's cute, but this...

"Hmph, yes, it's a saint's costume. Fia's red hair is something a saint would covet. There's no way she wouldn't play the role of a saint in this. Even a high-ranking saint could not have such a vivid color. Even though she has red hair, she is not actually a saint. Her very existence is extremely ironic."
